Sporza did their rest day "Vive le Velo" (their Avondetappe show) from here.
They also trumped the Dutch show by getting Wolverine to turn up there, for a little chat.

I'm surprised there weren't more picks for Albasini.

What do we reckon? Sagan to finish third?

looks like we have a break. Martin Elmiger (IAM), Cyril Lemoine (Cofidis) and Anthony Delaplace (Bretagne-Séché Environnement) have a two-minute lead on the peloton.

Shaping up to be a snoozefest, unless they're keeping powder dry. Break with 3'25" already

    Strange.
I'd never thought of the CN forum members as the sorts you find in Waitrose fine wine section on a Saturday morning, before.

Wiggins is in the Sky team car apparently.
Are they sure it's not his stunt double Olly Cookson.

Certainly not since they stopped giving The Guardian away with £5 of purchases!

More importantly, what cheese should I nibble on this afternoon?

    -1_zpsf6b34778.jpg

I have Oude kaas, jong belegen kaas, goat's cheese, halloumi, parmigiano and some blue cheese that seems to have just appeared in my fridge, I think it's Stilton.

    I'm fancying the mystery Stilton.

Oh, Oude kaas for me every time from that list. I haven't found a wine I like to drink with it though. I think I like it sooo much I don't want the taste to be adulterated with anything else

The abundant acidity in most wines is actually a pretty discordant tasting partner for complex cheese which is often balanced with its own acidity/salt. Beers on the other hand...

14:06 Time gap on the down

Cannondale and GreenEdge have decided to ruin the breakaway. The time gap goes down to 6.15.

Nibs pretty muted as well. Though Bardet (I think) has gone for the fully white ensemble, which is not a good look... though AG2R's brown shorts aren't either...

14:09 Alexis Vuillermoz: "The climbs are hard!"

Local newspaper Le Progrès asked AG2R-La Mondiale rider Alexis Vuillermoz to reconnoitre today's course, which uses his usual training roads. The Frenchman who finished 11th at the Giro d'Italia gave an interesting insight: “Three of the four climbs have been classified in third category but I find the organizers very optimistic! I know those climbs really well, they're harder than that. The côte de Rogna isn't too difficult but the end of the côte de Choux is steep. I can guarantee that many riders will be surprised by how hard it is. Shall the breakaway not make it to the finish, which is very likely to happen, this part of the Jura will be highly spectacular. The gradient of the côte de Choux will inspire some riders for sure!”

Eurosport are sickenly pleased with themselves at getting Greg Lemond to present.

That hashtag bike is pretty grim as well.

    Wine v beer:
I'm reliably informed that I can talk shit about beer for hours on end. Especially if it's Belgian. Though usually this is while drinking it, not beforehand.

For bike/jersey combos we've been spoiled by Gallopin. Surely the classiest effort for many, many years. Hope someone has tweeted him and his team and sponsors a thank you.

They were nice at the start of the season, but I don't like the white or the hashtag nonsense.
