The only way I can respect a Nibali win is if he goes off solo on several occasions and gains good time.

I really and truly thought Contador was going to destroy everyone including Nibali even with his time loss.

Surely several MORE occasions... he's already taken two stages impressively by the neck...

He made an excellent move on the circus stage that had no place in a Grand Tour. It really was great as I did mention. I just really want him to light it up and not make me think how much time Contador would have put into him. ps. Nibali is my second favourite Grand Tour rider.

Astana are so sh*t. They have been drilling it for an hour and Tony Martin is still increasing his lead even after his huge attempt yesterday. To let him go off again with Kwiatek in tow is bad planning.

Says the man with an Astana avatar?

Me too re the second comment.

    Edited....

Nibbles did it once already and won a fantastic stage. He doesn't need to do it again. I don't think anyone else now has the ability or resources to keep up with him. Expect to see lots of different stage winners in the next couple of weeks.

Those going 'meh, Contador's out; the race goes on' are kind of missing the point of top level sport. I think the race could still be highly entertaining but one of the reasons I watch sport is to see the very best going head to head. The loss of Froome and Contador (alongside the absence of Quintana) means that isnt going to happen and that impacts on the spectacle for me.

Erm, no we're not. We're simply able to enjoy the spectacle that continues without resorting to the cult of sporting celebrity for our fix.

Kudos to them. PTP has been reignited by this.

Oh crap I forgot Tusher's pick.

What a disaster. The two tacticians can no longer make the race.

This is dreadful...you want to see the quality go head to head (nibs, Froome, and AC).

Now Phil L will be on about sunflowers, horses, castles, and birds for two weeks...I can't take it.

Astana don't need to do anything on this stage. They have no jerseys and Nibali is best placed of the remaining GT contenders. Astana achieved one of their goals with no effort expended so just need to re-group and re-assess over the rest day.

ITV prize draw is giving away a Specialized rather than a Boardman at the adverts, suppose they got it cheap.

If they get two winners at least it will be easy to split the prize.
