not sure why all the surprise re Nibali, he's been one of the most aggressive riders / best bike handlers for years. he should be doing well in this type of week 1 of a tour

So what is Cancellara waiting for? Got to go at some point.

Can't wait to watch this stage tonight. Am listening and alt-tabbing between work apps and Cycling Fans stream - not ideal.

    Is it Paul Sherwens?

Don't worry, we'll let you know if anyone else has to abandon so you can get straight to gloating.

Cat well and truly among the pigeons here, this is exactly why some of us want stages like this. Excluding Froome this stage is all about Nibali using the stage to his advantage. He may have won himself the Tour today while others have been faffing about and moaning.

I can't see Renshaw stealing this from Sagan, but fingers crossed. Happy with either of them to win.

    Not just you - I saw a graphic on ES that said "Leaders - Talansky @ 1:54 - Contador @ 1:52" :P

    Wow! The Atacama desert. Amazing.

G and Porte on a charge. Go on Toblerone Boy.

I'm at a gold mine in the middle of the Atacama desert so streaming is impossible. I can't wait to watch the highlights in 6 weeks time what a stage.

I'll only do it for races with at least 10% cobbles.

Glad G and Porte are trying to gap it, not dragging Contador along.

Ok, here is my first live reaction from the office. Everyone is seemingly ignorant of Froomes plight and the entire event as a whole, Pablo has just finished hole punching some papers.

Westra is doing an insanely good job. Putting the Classics riders to shame. All they are doing is sucking wheels. Zero class.

Sagan and Cancellara playing cat & mouse....

FC has to let a gap open then jump across to the small cluster up the road.
