laces for cycling shoes is just idiotic.
What if you want to tighten or loosen on the bike? Fairly common need over 4-7hrs.0 -

Won his tour on bonts though, innit?
There's a reason bike shoes have been velcro & ratchet straps & now dial-wires.
You never adjust your shoes mid-ride?0 -

I do,
But he used laces:
"Key weight saving features include a paper-thin carbon fiber sole, an aluminized fiberglass upper with no synthetic leather layer on top for aesthetics, and the use of laces instead of a more elaborate ratcheting buckle or even conventional hook-and-look straps."

Also in British cycling road to glory he is seen lacing them up. init0 -

The shoes are Chris Latham's: https://twitter.com/ChrisLatham9/status ... 96/photo/1
and are just his choice of laces rather than Spec's standard.Contador is the Greatest0 -

While that may or may not be the case, I think the real reason for them is to sell you something new(although new might not be the right word). All they have to do is pay a few pros to use them and the mindless masses will follow.
The next logical step for manufacturers is to pay a team or two to ride steel bikes and bingo, your won't believe how may people will have to have them.0 -

Lace-up shoes provide the user with a far greater custom fit than 'fancier' ideas.*

Pretty poor choice of stem, tape and saddle.0 -
I've been lucky enough to put in a couple of hundred miles on Hollands and can say, without hesitation, that I have never ridden a better bike (or a more expensive one $5300 frame, DA DI2.)
If you're ever in San Diego then take one out for a test ride, or pop in for a chat;
