    Nasty injury for Larsson

Specialist against the clock, Gustav Larsson was seriously injured while preparing the Swedish championship. The rider of the IAM team fell heavily in training and suffers from several thoracic vertebrae fractures and wounds to the face that required stitches. He will be absent from competition for at least three months.

    Yeah, definitely a Vitus ! :D

Team bike is a Vitus. He had his Specialized Shiv on the car as a back-up. There were several riders there last night riding Shiv's with the decals covered up (so as to not offend their team sponsors!).

(I gave Mullen his helmet. Crazy that he has to wear Specialized helmets, but the team don't provide the good new ones. Only the old ones from several years ago! Mullen will use his Shiv in the World Champs though.

Pokerface, been following this kid for a couple of years and he seems the real deal. Do you really think he's in with a shout for the U23 Worlds? He's that good?

Basically everyone who beat him last year has moved into the Elite category this year, and Mullen has continued to improve. So yes, he has a real shot at winning. He was 4th fasted in the World's in the Pursuit this year also (not U23!). The future is bright for this lad.

I think the non-Movistar WT riders have boycotted it over an expenses dispute.

Good 15th place finish there, certainly better than he performed in the world cup

Surely you mean Steve, don't you ?

    Seriously..

The German was obviously delighted with his performance as he said : "I am happy to have won after a thrilling race The course was three laps of a circuit and the last lap was the only one when we had to turn left to get to the finish line. my radio was not working very well and the visibility was not very good because of the rain and the darkness so I focused on my lap . I made a mistake on the first lap because I did not know I had to go right so I lost time. But I immediately found my pace and after the second round I already had the best time. It was not an easy race because the weather was not good and the roads were slippery. I'm happy to get my fourth gold medal champion of Germany, I 'm in good shape for the Tour de France. "

I can't recall the exact figure but he still won by about 40 seconds!

Italian championships are now live on Rai 3.
    57kms (2 laps) to go.
    Tough looking finish.

Less than 10km to go in Italy. Front group of 11. It's been a really good race.

    Nibali wins.

    2. Formolo
    3. Rabbotini
    4. Visconti

Great race. Formolo particularly impressive. Scarponi worked his nuts off for Nibbles.

    Good finish that.

Fabulous ride from Formolo, but I think NIbali had it the whole way.

    Unlikely. He's a 21 year old neo-pro.

I know, but his results this year have been excellent. He has the potential to win a stage plus a bit of experience. Looks like he could become a very good stage racer as time progresses.
