Overwhelmed! Joy and deception are so close in cycling, but when you keep trying sooner or later you get what you work for! Thanks!

"It's quite painful but I was okay to finish the stage. It looks okay, I'm just a bit grazed for tomorrow," Froome said on French television. I'm not actually too sure what happened on the descent. I think there was a bit of a hole in the road and I lost my front wheel," he said, talking about is injuries. It's more my hip, elbow and my shoulder. Most of all I want to thank the other riders for neutralising the race. That's big sportsmanship from them."

Injury on the hip always looks extra painful to me.

Like TA stage where Contador created a memory for the fans this climb tomorrow has a steep part pretty early which will make a lot of the domestiques go out the back door early.
    finish-07.jpg

Two HC in succession also after a hard course, albeit fairly short. Should create some great viewing.

Were any bearded men in a Wigan Warriors shirt seen hiding behind the bushes Dick Darstardly style - preferably with a box saying 'Acme Portable Potholes'

I do , especially the pictures (although Contadors blue chest hairs are weird in that one.
It's OK to sat Froome is the least liked rider in the peloton, not OK to point out when the opposite seems to be the case.

Anyway, should be a good weekends of racing.

I reckon if Kelderman crashes or has a mechanical tomorrow then Movistar and Contador are going to put the hammer down.

Should be interesting. Apparently the tour de Suisse came to this area in 1970 and the tour de l'avenir in 2006 but the final climb has never been used as a summit finish. Either it's not a great finish or they've. Found a new jem. Looks good on paper.

Sounds like that 28% part isn't included today.

No part of 28 % on the final climb. This is from the official communiqué last night

Isn't that because it never really existed in the first place? I thought it was just an error.

Pretty sure it's real, but it just the last 3-400m and they don't do that bit.

It'll be interesting if someones got a gap at the top of the first HC and have to do a crazy quick decent before the last climb.

I gather that Bernard Thevenet in L'equipe suggested that AC should attack on that descent

    good stage yesterday,

Don't think Westra meant it but moved out for Jan. Great breakaway, I love when they pretty much have a track sprint.

Froome thanks Contador at the end of the stage, probably for not attacking on the last steep part. Big class from Bert, goes up in my estimation.

Contador and froome spin so well, it's amazing to watch, I think they sometimes look like they are about to spin out the gear.

The height of the climb and length are the same in both profiles which suggests you may be right.

100km to race and 14 have about 4.30. Best placed is Westra at 6mins or so.

Cant believe I am likely to miss almost all the stage live today. Hope its a cracker and I can watch the full rerun of last 30km.

Glad that 28% section is out - too selective and stops attacks earlier...most know that if you arrive a bloc at the bottom of that section then you will be passed before the end. TA stage Contador won was a good example of that.
