    Is it spring loaded? As in it's to hold something apart or open. Like a sheep's mouth. You said it's not supposed to be used on sheep so it could be for nefarious reasons.

    It's some form of 'trainer'. I think you put it in the corners of your mouth and then move your face muscles to make it flex/contract, thereby exercising said muscles.

    Yep, it is an IR/ thermal imaging camera.
