    Well I'm STILL in between moving houses, not getting into the new place for another couple of weeks, so unless you literally want an ironing board, someone else will have to take up the challenge.

    It's a dental instrument.
    Can see why you'd say that, but nope. As an idea for scale, it's a wee bit big for putting in your mouth... But you're not a million miles away.

    Nah everything's in storage, moved out the old house, with friends at the moment until the new place is ready.

    Not a pelvic clamp. They do come in different sizes, but as a rough guide, here's one beside a small dog:

    Something like an elasticated bandage, you put it on the spreader and then, say, put the leg through it to pull it on.

    Or, keeping a wound open so that you can work inside?

    Bingo. They're balfour retractors, mainly used for abdominal surgery to give you a good view.
