Don't know about apart of a gun, it looks like all of a gun to me, the sort that was placed somewhere to get poachers.
The older I get, the better I was.0 -

Detonating mechanism for an explosive?? (long shot)seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

hmm, that is not the definition of the object, detonation is simply the means to an end
it's the end that you need to figure out - for instance, an internal combustion engine engine detonates an explosive, but were it pictured here i'd be looking for the answer "engine" not "detonator"my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Does it involve an electric current?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

Part of a canon but not a trigger even though effectively, that is what it is?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

it's not part of a cannon, nor is it a fuse lighter
there are no other parts to it and it is not a subassembly of a bigger thing, it is used as-is (ok, you do need to add the stuff that it detonates)my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
My earlier post seems to have been deleted. Capt Slog got it correct with:
Don't know about apart of a gun, it looks like all of a gun to me, the sort that was placed somewhere to get poachers.
It is indeed an anti-poacher alarm gun. Sun god has been out in the sun too long.....~~~~~~Sustrans - Join the Movement~~~~~~0 -
according to the source of the original pic it is not an anti-poacher alarmmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0

If you google anti poacher alarm gun then you get that exact image (without the wibble wibble bit)~~~~~~Sustrans - Join the Movement~~~~~~0

i refer m'learned cake stopper to my previous reply
afaik poacher alarm guns usually have a string attached, this doesn't, also they have to be stuck in the ground or heavy enough to avoid being dragged, can't see how this would be right for the job
if you do not believe me, you can click this link to see what it is according to the people who sold it - but then you can't claim to have won

I'm not claiming to have won, imho Capt Slog won when he said it was a gun.
Whether it is an anti-burglar alarm gun or an anti-poacher alarm gun is all a bit pedantic ~~~~~~Sustrans - Join the Movement~~~~~~0
