Greipel looks extremely lean. He's still big and muscular for a cyclist but doesn't look like he's got an ounce of body fat.

He was a lot bigger than that until recently. Not sure what he's doing differently, but it's working for him.

Kudus in a break; well done to him for a GC rider giving it a go on a flattish stage

Lol, you guys see M M on the front of the bunch, sitting on his top tube pedalling. That unique thing he does. Pretty silly place to do it tho.

Cavendish loses. Huge fail from him. His boys worked super hard for him and put him in the perfect position. Nice one Vivi.

Cannondale deserved it if only because of Cameron Wurth's bizarre turn at the front.

Not that unique. That was Cam Wurf.

Cavendish too greedy for the win and paid the price ... Viviani played the normal percentages and won, smart riding ...

Cav lost in a straight up fair fight? Or didn't they both start from the same place?

Don't know but it's irrelevant really, part of winning is being in the right place to do it from. Looks like Cav was going for it right to the line though.

Viviani came round from Cav's wheel for the win. Square go, no outside interference.

I would suggest that the lumpy stuff beforehand affected Cav more than Elia, but normally he would be better than Viviani on harder terrain wouldn't he?

Is Greipel sick / injured? Someone said he got dropped which seems odd on a flat stage.

    Congratulations to Viviani then!

Mark acknowledges himself in 'At Speed' that he can't be the fastest forever. The next generation has definitely arrived.

We haven't seen riders come around Cav very often before.

He crashed badly earlier this year, broke his collarbone and is recovering. He managed to hang with the lead group over the proper climb yesterday and has been riding the front for his teammates. Good guy.

Viviani is very good on the tough finishes. He's in the Swift, Matthews, Meersman mode.

Isn't he a guy who has difficulty getting over a bridge?

edit: should probably check these things *before* posting. Was confusing him with Guardini.

    What do you mean?

Cav decided Renshaw wasn't going fast enough for some reason, got impatient and went from way too far out ... Viviani ignored the false speed from the downhill iand rode the sprint as you would normally and won ...

Cheers, I forgot he'd had that crash. It was the fact he did so well in the mountains yesterday that made me surprised he wasn't there at the end today.

"A third degree AC [dislocation] of the collarbone was the conclusion after the examination. Because of the crash the collarbone was dislocated and both ligaments between collarbone and shoulder have been completely pulled off," the Lotto Belisol team said on its website.

"The torn ligaments will be replaced and a little plate will be fixed to strengthen it. "

So not just an ordinary break
