I've just ridden my bike across France and back. I rode 2575km in 10 days and climbed over 32000m.
I expected to return with a stack of photos of me and the bike in the sunshine, up at the top of some great climbs with some amazing views.
Keen weather watchers will have noted that France has just suffered some of the worst rain and flooding in memory. Though I was not in regions with the worst rain, I spent many, many days in persistent heavy rain and very low temperatures. I came back through a lot of flooded areas.
I had hoped to contribute some scenic photos to this thread.
Sadly, all I have is a bunch of photos of signs at the top of Cols, with visibility of not many metres:
I could keep going! Man it was miserable. There are some Cols I do not have photos of as I was so cold and wet I couldn't be bothered to take gloves off to take a photo etc. The top of Mont Aiguoal was probably the most dangerous situation I have ever put myself in on a bike and was all rather reckless in hindsight. Temperatures were only about 3 degrees, I was soaked to the bone and the wind was recorded at over 75kph that afternoon. I did not stop for photos!
Oh well, going to have to go and do it all again and get the views next time!0 -

Kudos for keeping going and getting back in one piece! Plus, the British Summer might actually seem relatively pleasant for cycling after all that. Take some nice pictures of hedgerows or something.0 -
