Up here in my part of Lancashire, I still haven't had to break out the winter gear. OK, I wore my long fingered gloves once; maybe twice. But no Buffs, base layers, tights etc. I've been in a jersey, rain jacket and baggies all winter.

I suppose there's still time for winter to arrive.

still a bit of a nip to the air...

was busy with greenish folks on Swinley, lots of legging and trainers, they tended to be faster on the flat bits but due to technical inexperience slower up or down hills mostly they seemed unable to change gear.

still first time back to swinley since so more than happy to wait, either behind or at a convent waiting point.

Actually I think noddergeddon is dead. It is of the past, when people bought BSOs and commuted to work after the bombs etc.

The new spring scourge to general road safety and good manners is much more likely to be a mamil of sorts. On my way in there was the cannondale riding and lycra wearing muppet who undertook - pushing me out into traffic as he had to move out to go round a loading van (that was why I had pulled out you muppet!).

Also the two mamils in Hyde Park riding two abreast who started overtaking me (still two abreast) but then seemed to slow down so there were three bikes across the road! I don't mind being overtaken fellas, just do it!

And the guy who cut back through traffic to the kerbside. Yes you stopped, looked right at me - then pulled out (in?) into my path.

So this morning's completely scientifically sound sample size proves that nodders are no problem.

Every year at about this time, it's hard to find your way around BR thanks to the huge number of posts that appear bemoaning all the nodders.

    I personally welcome the nodders.

They make me seen quicker than I am.

C'mon man, riding through the winter in rubbish weather for months has got to have some perks, right?

Same here. I'm in this sort of no mans land where I'm faster than the occasional riders, but not as fast as the serious ones.

No need to do that. Just pedal with your instep or heel and point your knees out and you won't get any oil on your trousers.

I don't think Noddergeddon has happened at all this year; it seems to have been replaced by the new phenomenon of Choppergeddon. You see offenders on pretty much any type of bike; they're generally capable of 18mph or so on the open road, filter at a similar speed, love drafting, and ride like they're stuck on the back of a devil race. At the moment there's bl**dy thousands of them...

Saw a rusty looking chain lying in the road at the junction of QR and URR yesterday, it was curled up like a dead snake. Made me quite depressed all the way through Mortlake.

It's mid March again, things are no longer as cold as they were. It's no longer pitch dark in the morning, and the roads are full of Hi-Viz Hump backpack covers.....

I was honestly thinking the exact thing this morning. Carnage out there.

Rode in with my Dad and he was shocked at how many cyclists there were.
