Why the obsession with Wiggins on here? Do people think he went there as anything other than a domestique? No one seems to be laughing at Evans (or Nibali in P-N). As a domestique you do your job and then save your energy for the next day. It's a long season.

Also, good to see hypocrisy on here from someone who usually demands that 'questions must be asked' and yet is creaming himself at Bertie's ride. Showing his true agenda I believe.

He is a former TdF winner and paid a ton of money. You do not come to the races to be a domestique. Unless you ride for Sky and dont have to worry about racing hard to prove your worth and salary.

Evans was mentioned earlier a couple of times.

You do if that's what the team has instructed you to do. If he didn't he'd be getting slated for not being a team player (again).

That said, I don't think his heart is in it anymore and the honourable thing to do would have been retire at the end of last season unless he really is going to do his bit for the team.

Storming by Contador today, honourable mention must go to Geschke (Must have missed this guy before, not familiar with him) and Sagan. Sagan seems to be getting better and better at climbing.

This Wiggins business does deserve a mention. I know before someone said he was on a specific training regime but when exactly IS he going to start performing? What are his goals for this year? It just looks like he's lost all motivation. Evans too not looking great either but it is early days.

I think Evans will concentrate on one dayers until he retires now. He was in the mix at Strade Bianchi

Evans is having a torrid time. He picked up a virus and since his tour winning year has not looked the same rider.
The thing is , some of the other BMC riders have not looked the same as well. Thor had a virus and he's not back to his best, same for Gilbert. I wonder if it is a lot more serious than has been let on. None of BMC's top riders have been the same since.

Watched this earlier but couldn't join in the fun here as broadband is goosed ...

Brilliant stuff ... Especially from King and the dude with the beard for trying to make some sort of race out of the finale ...

Also good to see Hansen enjoying his performance ...

Horner doing a decent job for someone just back into the peleton after a very disrupted winter and no team training camp etc ... Looking forward to him being in the mix for the Giro ...

Quick thought about SKY ... Does anyone else think that Froome and belatedly Porte got pulled from this before they took a pasting? Better to keep the peleton (and even the riders themselves) guessing rather than blow the mystique of dominance ...

Nah! I think Froome had a niggle in his back and Porte got ill.

He would have got a good thrashing form Contador today and that can play on your mind in a big race and you can tighten up so maybe Sky pulled him.

They want to keep his head in a good space for the race's to come.

Slow start for Martin. Lets hope he is firing on all cylinders come the Giro which he is targeting.

Nice. Top marks for trying. Attacked from km 0. Worth noting that the peloton gave them 12 mins circa km 60 before Saxo started riding. 200km race though - was a decent number in the breakaway and Ges actually sucked his wheel 90% of the time. Would have been a worthy winner behind Contador.

  • No one said it yet? Only one word needed for that ride... Heavy weight.
Starting to like Valverde and contador, what is going on? Beginning to get embarrassed for sky, I know they are all about the tdf, but surely they can look competitive at a few other races at least?

But where's the line between a tough climb and a circus? Used sparingly, a short brutal wall adds to the variety and my enjoyment, as long as it doesn't screw the overall competition (much like a mid-length TT really).

This is the line. The line between my way and the highway....

More responsibly, if wall-of-death handling skills are required, that skill should feature more often.
