But where's the line between a tough climb and a circus?

If Contador starts zigzagging, you've probably crossed the line

The Sky bashers seem to mention Sky way more that so called fanboi's at the moment...

He would have got a good thrashing form Contador today and that can play on your mind in a big race and you can tighten up so maybe Sky pulled him.

They want to keep his head in a good space for the race's to come.

If he was in the race, Sky would perhaps have had different tactics and maybe would have kept it together more, therefore nullifying his long-range attack.

Sky are so far ahead of everyone else now they know exactly how race will pan out now then? Does Xenon make you a psychic to now?

Contador was stunning today. Looking forward to the summer. Remember only 5 altitude finishes and with Bertie riding like that it is more open than we thought.

Quick thought about SKY ... Does anyone else think that Froome and belatedly Porte got pulled from this before they took a pasting? Better to keep the peloton (and even the riders themselves) guessing rather than blow the mystique of dominance ...

Porte looked rubbish yesterday, didn't he? And Froome was clearly off the pace in Oman (the only race he's ridden so far this season).

He had an extra gear today going up, and was immense going down.

Resorting to results and evidence is a sign you have lost the argument, this is the Internet. Only conspiracy theories hold any sway here. I'm surprised they forgot to mention Geraint took a dive to avoid humiliating himself at Paris-Nice.

Sky dominate and 'questions must be asked', they fail to win and they are finished / running scared. You really couldn't make up some people's thought processes!

I demand to see Bertie's power data for today, he'd publish them if he didn't have anything to hide.

They haven't used that climb before so that will screw over the tinfoil hat brigade with their comparative time theories which take no other variables in to account!

    Sounds like a good racer.

    Crampeur:
"This winter my preparation was better. I isolated myself from lots of compromises that took time from my training. I spent a lot of time training with just a few teammates and in one camp we did a lot of climbing.”

"I also kept my mouth closed to keep my weight under control, which is harder to do as you get older. I think we can see the results of all that work today."

"It’s clear that my season has only just started," he said.

"I still need more race rhythm. My weight is where it needs to be but I need some more tone in my legs. I don’t yet have that little bit extra bit for the big goals of the season like the Tour de France and the Vuelta."

Photos so far have been excellent.

Contador continues to weave his legend, continues to create lasting memories, continues to give performances that will be written about decades down the line just like the real Greats did before him.

It's what makes this sport beautiful to behold. Efforts of that nature. It's something you do not see very often.

Porte only got back on yesterday because Contador and Quintana etc played cat and mouse with each other.

As soon as Contador took off Porte was going backwards.....

Porte would have been DESTROYED today by CONTADOR.

You Sky Fans are not very good loser's are you.

Good to see Wiggo has finally finished

I'm not a Sky fan, thanks.

Porte went backwards so fast he lost a whole 5 seconds to Contador yesterday. You really need to argue better if you want people to believe the narrative you try to weave.

    Backwards , you said it.

Contador proved today he was only toying with his rivals yesterday.

He destroyed everyone today and if you want to live in your delusional world and think that Porte would have got anywhere near Contador today then that's up to you because I don't care about your fiction.

Because today Contador was AWESOME

Folks need to calm down somewhat ... There is no need for battle lines to be drawn every time SKY is mentioned ...

There is a shift in how these races are being approached, especially when they have 3 GT contenders who have bossed shorter stage races in the past few years ... Something isn't right ... at this point anyway ...

It will be interesting to see how Contador goes in the TT.

If he gets back to his best of a few years ago ,then it's game on for the tour.

Contador did not look to comfy on the TT bike the other day. Fingers crossed.

TT is crucial if anyone wants to beat Froomy at the tour.

It's good for racing to see Bertie back in form. Let's hope he holds it into the GT season. Nibs has carried the exciting GT rider pretty much alone for a while now.

When riders attack like Contador did today it makes for an exciting race. We saw him do the same thing at the Vuelta and again with Andy Schleck at the tour.

It's such a shame that so many big names have opted out of the tour.

Lets hope Andy Schleck can get some form. Seriously.

Frank was good today and deserved the win IMO
