    Apart from Chavenel ,,,,boring zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

G was never going to win this IMO.

I know it's pedantic but on the basis I have to correct it everyday in PTP I feel entitled to say, it's Chavanel with an A.

    http://aolbroadband.search.aol.co.uk/ao ... q=Chavenel

    Is it an a ? or e?

I think your right. Interesting confusion.

No breaks then, that's good. Shame as he was looking good, GC contender for the shorter tours at least. So that means they have Froome, Porte, Thomas and (When he brings his A game, Wiggo) for GC contenders, not bad at all.

    Henao.

I told Luke Rowe after the race that if G's doesn't get a slice of luck soon, I've having massive rage. He said he'll be joining me.

What actually happened to Thomas today? I know he crashed and saw a clip of him lying on the ground on the local news.

You couldn't really see it, but he crashed pretty heavily on a descent.

    Lost 7 odd minutes.

I'm formulating a theory that GT struggles with bike handling when he's starting to get fatigued and there is pressure.
As mentioned earlier in the week I'm formulating a theory that his racecraft and bike handling have been poor.dont forget he crashed on the 1st stage of last years tour, hardly fatigued

^ Sadly I would tend to agree. Did he not crash at Flanders last year in the middle of a wide open road when the heat wasn't really in the race.

Have to agree with the above.

It happens too often for it to be coincidence or bad luck.

    Yeah, true.

Maybe the additional speed / effort of tour combined with nervousness. But then decked in it M-SR, Flanders, Paris-Roubaix too, so like others say, not just down to bad luck.

Best placed Sky rider now Geraint is out is Lopez, in place 62, 20 mins adrift. On a parcours as easy as this and team with cash to splash, they should at the very least have a B rider up there for GC.

He also had to role battered and bruised into the finish...by himself.

Did he not also come a cropper in the TDF - in a mountain stage - at least a couple of 'Whoaaaaaa!' moments

    Yup

Don't forget Thomas actually is the B rider after Porte - so you mean a C rider

    It's all kicking off.

    Nibali tried but failed again.

With 28kms to go, Trofimov is out front solo with 45 secs on the AG2R led bunch. Mate and Cousin are in between.

UK commentator just said I wonder how much Trofimov's gold chain is weighing him down.

Trofimov is suffering some now and his gap has been brought down to 25secs as Movistar have hit the front.

One more ascension of Col d'Eze. Got to hope someone makes something of it.

    15secs. IAM helping out.

Amazingly Andy Schleck is still with the bunch.

Andy didnt last long. As soon as they hit the ascent he went straight out the back. Maybe we can blame this on him becoming a father.

Was the first. Which was very large.

An AG2R rider is drilling the front now, lining it out. But Betancur is pretty far down the pack.

Sky's best placed rider is now on the front.

What were ASO thinking making this route? Also, the nerve to have a go at riders for choosing a much better race..

Nibali dropped. Again we can put this down to becoming a father very recently.

Frank Schleck has attacked now and is trying to bridge to Lopez. Doesn't have the zip of years gone past.

Lopez doesn't look like he is going very fast but they are really struggling to catch him now.

Guess why? The UK commentator called him off the back.

I should pull up the French feed.

Lopez caught. Frank tried but got caught by Rui Costa. Betancur is fine.
