Yep, used them last month, they were very good, we also went for the brake swap and upgraded the wheels.

Thanks for that. What were the wheels like? Had one mavic but the rest are local handbuilt carbon clinchers apparently.

The wheels were fine, seemed a sensible upgrade to me

Off to Majorca on Saturday for a week staying in puerto pollensa.

I have ordered a bike from pro cycle hire through their website. Anyone have any experience of doing this as it states you can log in at any time to view your order and make changes if necessary but for the life of me I can't see anywhere on their site in which to do this.

I didn't receive any email confirmation either. I want to check all is ok.

    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Ring them and check. Just because you can do it all over the tinterweb, doesn't mean you can't speak to someone

Thanks - yes that is an option that i will revert to if i have no reply. I think their site needs some sorting out.
I have messaged them on Facebook but I don't hold up much hope as emailed them earlier in week with a question i had and didn't receive a reply.

I know lots of people have used them and seem to be happy with the service but surely you would think they know about their rather poor booking system through their website.

What is strange also is that when you book it asks you for an email address but does not ask you for a password to set up a log in. I managed to save my booking conformation page and used the customise link on it which takes you to the log in page. Great I thought, but can't log in as have no password!!!! AHHH.

Just ring em and ask to speak to Bruce. Most small businesses dont consider their "facebook" page to be an important form of communication. Because its not.

We booked 10 good spec Di2 Supersix Evos from Bikehead. They were very helpful. We wanted bikes a similar grade to our own.

The brakes lever layout doesnt worry us.

We're t Pro Cycle Hire the ones that Majorcajeff said (earlier) to avoid?

  • Out here now, roads pretty empty, mostly only fat Germans cycling, weather good and sunny, though has cooled from the 28's of last week to 23 ish.

Don't think I'll have time to check out the new surface up at Formentor…. :(
  • Spent a week with the Stephen Roche gang back in September. First time riding in Mallorca and apart from a couple of rainy days the weather was spot on. We did the optional Wednesday taking in the Soller, Puig Major and Sa Colabra climbs. Had a bloody superb week which was topped off with our final ride on Saturday with The Man himself. What an experience getting pulled along at 30 mph - he's an animal! Rode the whole day with him covering 90km.
  • Just returned from Majorca. Had a really great time and did some riding out there. I rode out to cap de tormentor twice as the new surface is superb. Managed two other flat rides but didn't get out the Sa Colabra as planned due to weather issues. Definitely going back as want to conquer that one as lost two days riding due to rain.

Anyone thinking of going - go! Pretty empty in Pollenca now but thinking of going back in April.

I have nothing to do personally with this shop but would recommend it .

a different, softer, sort of trip:wife booked a hotel (royal cristina)near the the palma beach cycle track . wife is not a mile-eater or hill climber , but makes an excellent companion on holidays nevertheless.we hiredtwo high quality bikes from the shop round the corner , which was this very pleasant and extremely fit ?austrian couple. bikes immaculate , mine was ultegra full set.Perfect fit .
We cycled together into palma or out to luz major on easy roads or flattish tracks , Palma is a nice small city to potter about. markets entertaining places to eat(oliva and santa catalina)
hotel bike park was previously the underground carpark now with a hundred or so bikes in it , including a team .
the area we stayed in was full of germans , some in lederhosen and many quite drunk, but all very pleasant , good atmosphere and lots of all sorts of cycling going on.

When you are near Alaro check out Restauarant Bearne . Really good.

near hotel cristina we liked restaurante paraiso, which incidentally had good free wi-fi

A group of us (5) are planning to go to Majorca a couple of weeks before Easter. We're looking at finding accommodation through Airbnb. Can anyone recommend a place they've rented for a few days?

Depends where you want to be. I am friends with a guy that has a selection of old palace flats in the old town in Palma which are superb and not too expensive.

    Hi

For a first timer, you would do well to base yourself in Port Soller, Port Pollenca or Port Alcudia. The support networks from each are good, organised rides, bike hire, accommodation used to cyclists etc.

Visit our site for loads of unbiased info, routes, climbs, great pics etc https://www.tramuntanacycling.com/en/ab ... es-to-stay

The site is a hobby for us, we live here in Mallorca and love it!

Me and a group of friends went in October last year, we stayed at the Puerto Azul in Puerto Pollensa it was so good we're going again in October this year, some are also booked to go in April and I've persuaded my non cycling wife to let me book us and our 5 kids into a villa in Pollensa in October half term.
I got pneumonia 7 weeks before we went last year so I wasn't fully recovered and couldn't attempt any of the major climbs other than the ride up to Lluc Monastery, so I'm going to make the most of it this time.
Have to say though I was really impressed with the flat rides that I could manage so it wasn't a total loss.

Been tasked with organising a trip to Majorca for a few of my cycling buddies in early May and have decided to base ourselves in Puerto Pollensa.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel/aparthotel that is reasonably priced and has good facilities for cyclists?

List so far is Hotel Diana, Duva and Puerto Azul (bit too expensive) and we would prefer to have at least B&B.

Any others worth considering based on personal experience?

We stayed at the Puerto Azul in October and have booked again for this October at the same place, but it was cheap at the time, I can't comment on the other places but the Azul had decent storage facilities for bikes, the food was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Another group stayed at the Pollensa Park which they said was ok but the accommodation was a little tired.
You'll have a great time wherever you end up.

Have you looked at Pollentia Village? Very good base for triathletes and cyclists, with good food also.

A very good option, probably a bit more expensive than I wanted, but it may well be worth it if the food etc is good quality.
