Just a reminder of a post from earlier in the day by someone else:

    Michael Hutchinson ‏@Doctor_Hutch 3h
A 54.25kph TT finish for Martin. Not a record, quite, (that's still LeMond's 54.54 from 1989) but very, very fast. #tdf

    Froome better than Martin. Ridiculous.

Look at the profile. Not that ridiculous.

Downhill and flat final 2/3s into headwind is what is doing the damage to the smaller guys.

Sorry, are you referring to stage 19 of the 2012 tour where he finished 53rd at 5' 55"?
    Or stage 9 - 27th at 3' 20"?

    Don't be a pillock.

FYI, there are more races in the year than the TdF.

Like the ones where he was tt world champ, before he was at Sky. So his tting went backwards with sky.

But we all know about his past? Or dont we?

Yes but you're making aspersions about just one part of his past.

Froome fastest at the first split!

Come on now. Seriously. If he beats Martins time I want to see his power data.

Martin's recovering from an injury though, no matter what he says, Martin would have been quicker again today injury-free, no doubt about it

Contador looking lot better than his Dauphine effort.

Ten Dam 20th on the stage at second split - not too shabby.

Froome was 2nd behind Wiggins in both the long Tour TTs last year, so why the surprise that he can TT?

Calm down people. It's only a time split. Martin will still win by the previously predicted 30-50s.

No surprise at that. But Martin almost broke TT's speed records earlier (missed out by miliseconds). He's a TT specialist and he's wiped the flaw with everyone so far. If Froome beats Martins time he's likely to make the speed record. Not having that.

    No shoot.

Care to provide me with comparative example of where he's ridden better for Sky (when not riding as leader), versus for Saxo. Of course there were those WTT triumphs at QuickStep, but that would only disprove your idle point. Or suggest he was up to something else then...

Or why don't you just ignore the question, like you always do when some asks you to back up your implied libel?

EDIT: Bit slow replying - I like to check my facts first - seems others agree with my point of view.

Enough of the "shock" at Froome being competitive against an injured Tony Martin. Froome is clearly one of the top handful of time triallers on the planet, is in the form of his life, riding a stage that he will have earmarked as a target some months ago - no surprise if he wins and would be a big surprise if he finishes below 2nd.

Honestly, I am on fire at choosing the winners in this year's TdF. I said Froome would win - he's 2 secs up with fastest time. Wish I'd put some money on him. Anyone know what the BetFair odds were on CF this morning please?

Well, that didn't look like the Contador who trounced our erstwhile friend Mr Armstrong in TT's, having, IIRC, been a great TT'er since being a junior. And I'm assuming a great meat eater for the same length of time.
