    Is that Bernard Hinault's house?

    Was he mowing the lawn?

Alas no, I suspect he's ironing his lilac shirt for the podium presentation later. It was a very nicely mowed lawn though I will say.

Is Schwalbe One their new road tubeless thingum?

I have no idea, I want to know what 'Cheske Flange' (spelling?) is and what it has to do with the Tour of Poland?

Interesting stage this isn't it. :D

I quite liked the sweeping shot of the river/mudflats/eastuary. Very nice.

Tour of Poland, here's the thing..... I get a Grand tour visiting another country for the Grand Depart, I also get the dipping in to another country mid tour if logistics mean it has to happen. But why the hell is the Tour of Poland starting in the Dolomites?

Yes it's a beautiful part of the world, but it's not Poland, it's Italy - somewhere that does very well when it comes to hosting their own races on their own patch. They have one week every year to showcase Poland to the cycling world as part of the TdF hangover, so why go to Italy?

This is something I have pondered too. The only answer that I keep coming back to is: money.

Quick one from our lodgings on the slopes of Mt Ventoux. Is there a link to an English language commentary that I can pick up? Tried 5lextra but this seems to be blocked here in France.

We have french tv pictures, and seperately a good wi-fi connection, but to my shame I don't speak french.

Are Sky pulling for sprinter's teams in return for future stage favours? Or are they just nice guys?

    "sigh"

the yellow jersey team ride as hard enough to make the stage winnable so the sprinters take over late-earlier depending on the time gap from the jersey to the riders in the break on GC

Why be such a dick? Maybe its someone trying to learn about the sport.

Post rest day ennui. Typical sprint stage butterflies. No harm done.

This is something I have pondered too. The only answer that I keep coming back to is: money.

Most definitely money. You'd think the sticking the race through some of the more touristy areas might bring more money into Poland (accumulative effect), rather than taking a few hundred thousand € from the Trentino tourist board.

Dull stage but should be a really good sprint, it feels more open than it has for some time, and that it's the whole team's performance that decides...

Sorry, but no. I have money on Cav and Kittel, so only one of them can win...

The problem is there aren't many touristy areas in Poland. For the most part the landscape is about as interesting and as varied as the Netherlands without even the wind to liven things up. There's only so many times they can go around the square in Krakow.

Do you think Cartlon might be a bit confused about his invitation to the 'Eternal Garden'? It sounds like a seedy gentleman's club on the St. Malo ring road.

Czeslaw Lang (pronounced ches-waf lang) is the race director and Polish cycling legend, apparently:

It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Might get interesting in about 10km when they turn along the coast. It is very windy here in Brittany at the moment.

Yes. Only 2 mics and more importantly 2 seats in the booth.

I got the feeling they weren't that friendly, don't know why, Sean never seems to comment on what Stephen says

I'm going to have to cycle home before the stage finishes.

Last time this happened, when I got home Wiggo has broken his collar bone!

Cobbles in the sprint section I think. McEwen saying the finish is dangerous and Dave B is there now looking concerned.

I don't know that you can read much into that. When it's David and Sean commentating he never comments on anything Carlton says either.

This is killing me watching this.. (especially when they show mont saint michel)

spent some time planning out how I would go over on the ferry to watch this stage, and cycle over to watch the next... but I'm a poor student and couldn't afford it

Who needs steephill when you can go to Filmon.com and click on ITV4?

Or failing that, go to http://www.tvguide.co.uk and do the same.

I don't want to sound snooty, but why do the commentators keep telling us things which are blindingly obvious?

Like "those men in blue and yellow are Contador's team". WE KNOW THAT!

If I was Froome I'd want more than one team mate with me at this point. Even if that one man is Stannard.
