Oh jesus, I've just realised I picked Cav for tomorrow's stage earlier today. Do I go and change it? I'm getting really superstitious. If he doesn't win it will be my fault. :?  What do I do? Help!

No, stay with him. Once he's broken his duck at the Tour, he likes his back-to-back wins

And a great victory for the Netherlands!

    Yay :D

Bit late to the party today - had to catch the finish on +1 whilst still out of breath from the commute home. Worth the effort though. On the Sagan/Cav speed debate, I reckon it was only tucking behind Greipel (and what happened to him?) that dragged Sagan up there - once he was in the wind he didn't take anything out of Cavendish's lead.

I guess someone will be along in a moment to correct me and assert it was a boring, flat waste of an afternoon...

Are we going to see lots more mountain runners today. Oh look there's some cyclists who've just ridden 100k+ at 40kph now I'm going to impressively run along and get in their way for 150m in my underpants/tight speedos/batman costume before passing out at the side of the road.

Most prescient RideOnTime considering today's events with the nifty take out of running man. Most prescient.

    Great finish.
Can't believe how many moaning about EBH being on Cav's wheel? So what was Cav not on wheels for the entire race until last 300m? Who's wheel should he have been on then I wonder? Schlek's?
I noticed several people mention this (me included), but I'm not sure I noticed anybody moaning. I certainly wasn't, was just an observation

EBH doing Cav a big favour by relegating Sagan to third so I'm sure Cav will be more than happy to have him on his wheel on every sprint stage.

Housemate's bf would have never made that mistake! :P

Nah, it's a good idea. You pick Sagan and he doesn't win. That's why I've been picking him for the last stages and he hasn't won a sausage. It's true. I don't think Sagan's ever won when I've picked him for PTP, OK maybe G-W but that's it. I suppose it depends if you want Cav to win stages or you want to win PTP though... I'm selflessly sacrificing my PTP chances for Cav. :D
Indeed. I've made it a policy this year never to pick for PTP someone I'd actually like to win.

As a joke I picked Wiggins for every stage, including the TTT, of the Giro.

I'm very, very sorry and I won't do it again.

Ooof, Garmin are in the wars. Now it seems that CVV has a 'cervical contusion' (presumably from the earlier crash today)

    Poor Ryder.

Anyone know what caused it? I saw Bouhanni go down first, but I haven't had a chance to watch a replay yet. Was he veering all over the place again?

ITV pundits were blaming one of Cav's leadout men dropping back sloppily. They only showed it once so I couldn't really see if they had a point.

Having watched the ITV replay I'm still none the wiser. Trentin didn't seem to do much wrong in going back through the peloton, but I couldn't see if Bouhanni was at fault for hitting his back wheel. Maybe just one of those things.

Crossed paths with a frustrated @GeraintThomas86 at the front of the bunch today, 'Look at this! 5 fucking GC teams fighting for position.'

He continued, 'Why don't we just let the leaders sit there and leave them alone?' Then he looked at me with a smile, 'G for President!'

Only Geraint aka 'G' could refer to himself in the third person as a presidential candidate and get away with it.

    #voteforG I see a project for @TeamSky & @franmillar. T-shirts? Do it

Sky reckon tacks were chucked on the road today.

    From their website:

'Sports Director Nicolas Portal also chose to heap praise on Boasson Hagen, but revealed there had been a worrying spate of flat tyres with around 60km to go which appeared to have been caused by tacks being thrown on the road........
...."Richie [Porte] and G [Thomas] both experienced flat tyres though, and we think they might have been down to people placing tacks on the road. They were in the tyres when we inspected them after the race, and a few other teams also experienced similar problems. That's a bit of a worry but thankfully nobody was hurt." '

Cuddles had better keep an eye on Tejay...he has previous in tack-y scenarios...

My refusal to pick Cav has already cost me a share in the lead of the TDF PTP and I'm sticking to my guns for stage 6. If you pick Cav and he fails to win as a result, I guess I can assume that, unlikely as it may seem, my PTP choices have no impact on what happens in real life after all.

Looked like Trentin did nothing, kept his line. Bouhanni started sprinting with his head down and went straight into the back of Trentin....carnage ensues.

No cos a lot of those discussions were on Wine, Geology and gastronomy (not to mention a minor breakdown from me), not actual cycling...
