Thomas will start the stage, but sounds like he's struggling big time.

Friend of mine who is out there just posted a photo on Facebook of Geraint Thomas warming up on a turbo. But...

Just watched Geraint Thomas attempt to swing his leg over his bike. Took two attempts and eventually required assistance. V painful

Was it not him then that was back in hospital?
He's over 17 mins down now.

I like the last bump. Just over 3ks at 8% only 14ks from the finish. If it was less than 14ks it would be better but even so it works.

He had more check-ups done last night

I dont think his time is something they're concerned about now. IF he can get through today, the next few stages give him a little more opportunity to recover. TTT tomorrow - and I guess they'll jettison him relatively quickly. Then its 2 flat stages.

But today's stage is a hell of a one to be trying to survive in so much pain

G starts today. But CT scan last night did show a small fracture to the pelvis.

    Ouch :(

I bike-toured along this route a couple of years ago. Absolutely stunning scenery, especially around the Cote de Porto, the stage would be worth watching for that alone never mind the bike race.

Agreed. I know it's the Tour, but that is mental.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    Radioshack stopping for a pee.

Thomas drifting around at the back of the bunch. What on earth is he going to do when he needs a pee if he needed help to get on the bike in the first place?

Breaks get formed surprisingly easily this year. In past years it's always been a 20km dog fight to even get into the break of the day for hilly stages.

Yes indeed, everyone always says that the start of the race which we rarely see on TV is relentless attacking to get into the break, then on Saturday when we did have a chance to see it it was the softest break you could imagine!

Take one whilst on the bike like they usually do at the sharp end of the race probably.

Agreed. Looks like a good spring board for an attack. Not one for the GC guys today I think, but what do I know? The Tour so far has been completely unpredictable.

Well, get to stay home for the week after going down hard last night avoiding a dozy young lady who turned straight across me, resulting in fractured radial and no riding for six weeks

I know, bit of an extreme measure to get a week off work to watch the first week of the tour

Mrs is not happy about having to drive down to Normandy on friday either!

Looking forward to today, very lumpy but short so hope to see some action.

Is this a stage for puncheur types? Seems hilly and undulating

Kennaugh is the Tour new boy on the team. I'm sure DB gave him the Team Sky marigold gloves today.

Ouch - fractured my Radial head and some ribs about 2 years ago and it was painful. Getting in and out of bed was a joke, which my wife obviously found hilarious. Arm\elbow is just about back to normal now but it took a while. :(

Daily Question - Has a Team Ever done a TTT with all 4 jerseys on the team? Extra points if they were on 4 different backs?

One question, based on the 3 stages so far. WTF is going on with the gap to the break? In previous years the breaks have been allowed 12-15 mins on sprint days, but so far they've had like 3 mins or something. Why are they being held so close?

That makes sense, but they could still give the break more. I'd love to see more days like yesterday
