He may have already burnt some matches approaching 3km.

Fair point as that 3km finish had been OGEs strategy :lol:

I'm sure he was behind the crash. How did he cause it?

Thought that was him trying to elbow someone into a lamppost on his left - guy behind and just on his right is first down.

Danny two places away from being the youngest ever holder of the yellow jersey. That would have been amazing.

Joking aside, our bus driver is devasted. He's an awesome guy and (unlike me) a great driver. He was being told to keep moving forward.

Could've had a nice prologue, see each rider, set some order to the race, few time gaps between challengers.

I think that whole "finish at 3km", "no wait, original finish" thing was utterly ridiculous.

    1/10

I think it was a good example of performing under pressure. Besides, prologues are boring as f*ck, so no thanks :P

Kittel says he didn't know about the bus at the finish line or the change to the finish point at 3km to go!

Is it too harsh to partly blame Greenedge for that crash?

Oh well. One out of three for me today.

Pole for GP wasn't who I hoped for
MotoGP win was who I hoped for
Shambles in TdF and still not sure where Cav finished

Suffered the Phil & Paul show - didn't even notice the pile up!

Bad crash for Contador and roles over the line with a ripped jersey. F ing losers that cause these crashes.

Geraint is on his way to hospital for xrays.

Yeah, Chavanel is such a loser...

I don't know why anyone is surprised. There are always crashes in the first 3-4 days, sometimes longer, until everyone settles down and gets used to riding with so many people on the road. They aren't all 16 Tour veterans like O'Grady.

You can see him (German Champion's white jersey) try to thread his way through some riders and then took out Chavanel. A bit too cute. Maybe why he pulled up, a handy mechanical.

Yeah, Backstedt reckons that was him squeezing through and losing his rear mech whilst sending the guy to his right down.
  • Chaotic - but I loved i!.Seems fitting for the Tours 100th. All a bit unscripted and dramatic. like an improvisation, when the world is watching

Was the OGE bus really 3 hours late?

I need another gin. Poor Tony. Hope Thomas is OK. Seriously what an all out omnishambles.

It doesn't really matter who was to 'blame' for the crash if you can ever apportion blame to one person in these things anyway. It's the Tour there are always crashes but the farce of the dancing finish line should not have happened.

    Crazy.

Gutted, I had cash on Cav.

But why was the OGE bus so late? Crossing the line 15 mins before the bunch? Crazy!

New time limit for busses etc will be introduced after this
