Is the Brit' Champions Jersey the lamest in cycling?

My last comment on this subject is ... In the following photograph, who is looking to get their photo taken with who (to save you time, it's not Russell Downing) ...

BTW, that wouldn't make a good GB champs jersey ...0

Some tasteless s'hit going on here. Well done.0

I was wondering if I hadn't been a bit rash in blocking crankbrother. Seems not. Although only seeing snippets possibly makes him look even more mental.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

Back on topic....I for one am of the view that there is something eloquent and traditional about the white jersey with coloured bands. And of course black shorts. Cavendish looked good in the world jersey and will look good when he wears this (yellow and green intervals permitting).0

I hate shorts that are matched with the champs/category jersey. Smacks of trying too hard. I mean, Pozzato should be jailed for some of the stuff he turned out in.It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
Hmm, they went with the sleeves because sponsors were actively dissuading their riders from riding (or winning) National Champs because it so reduced the amount of space for logos. Given that MTBing isnt exactly rolling in cash, it was one of the better UCI decisions recently...
Not sure I agree with getting rid of the WC stripes so completely though...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

i think the problem with out jersey is that the Union Flag us such an emotive design and to reduce it to three strips just doesn't look good to some. I think the Australian one with the strips works ok and the colours seem to work but for us it just doesn't look right to me0

And not just on the bike!

Nor does it make a decent stir fry.0 -

But maybe it’s always been so – I have a magazine from 2005 with a photo from 1967 which shows Barry Hoban and Vin Denson wearing jerseys with Union Jacks on their shoulders, as members of the UK team in the TdF.
The flags on their jerseys are turned 90 degrees compared to the above pic, which also makes them nonsensical.
The jersey then was obviously designed by a man!0 -

Might have to change if Scotland vote for independence.
See, there are no winners in Scotland becoming independent ...

You honestly believe that Bradley Wiggins is less worthy of admiration than the most prolific child molester ever exposed in Britain? A man who abused his position of trust to sexually exploit young people literally hundreds of times?
Have a word.
I'm (almost) certain Saville wasn't knighted for kiddie-fiddling ... I am certain that Wiggo was knighted for riding for his own personal glory ...
I have no love for either ... I just know it winds the Wigginswankers (copyright pending) up ... and adds some perspective to what we hand out honours for, and to whom ...
It really doesn't.
It's just stupid.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
I quite like the Estonian jersey for some reason.0

Sorry to take this off topic, but couldn't help but think about the outfit he was wearing after his ride at Stage 18 of this year's Giro. Somehow he managed to make the Lampre kit even more fantastic/outlandish than usual:
For what it's worth, I think the British jersey is fairly tasteful and easy enough to identify in the peloton - unlike the Radioshack national champs jerseys.0 -
I always liked Jeremy Hunt's national champs jersey when he was at Banesto.

I really like the British Champions Jersey and I'm a paddy.
No need to change a classic. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -
Given who has just won the national champs jersey, I'm sure that having a Union Jack on it would be a bit daft.....0

From the title I thought this thread was going to be about how the holder of the Brittish champions jersey was normally not much to be feared in the pro peloton. ... But it was about the design. Silly me.
Would be soo good to see Cav win the first stage at the TdF whilst in the national champ jersey.0 -

Not sure why as in his post race interview he said how proud he was to win and how proud he is to be British.

I think this has been covered in a thread in the past few days. The Union Jack is the national flag of the United Kingdom. Cavendish is from the Isle of Man, which is a Crown dependency rather than part of the UK.0 -
But it is now different to wearing the red, white and blue colours in stripe format surely? Maybe the jersey should be based on the Royal standard instead0
