You need two bikes. The commuter/downhill combo doesn't work. At all.

Really, split the bike and sell the parts.

    Sorry if this upsets you.

I am no expert and my technical ability does not go beyond punctures. So at the very least I commend you for managing to put this together. I suspect that you will not get any HT frame recommendations on here for two reasons.
    1) A HT frame to go with those forks does not exist.
    2) Nobody wants to get sued by those you leave behind when you inevitably kill youself on recommended bike.

Whilst reading the 1st post, reading the spec before I got down to the pictures of the bike, I thought this was a joke.

Agree with what someone else has suggested. Get yourself an Apollo cheapie for commuting, and then a reasonable XC/AM bike with your budget from selling all those parts and frame. Having seen your bike pictures, not quite sure your idea of DH is the same as mine...

So not exactly technically up to date on all this jazz but reading the specs, doing some readin..it seems if you went down a steep enough hill and tapped the front brake, the front is that heavy that you could technically pivot on the front wheel and go over the handlebars...without the front wheel ever coming off the ground :p.

Also why would you commute in this? Seems rather expensive/high maintenance, you will find yourself servicing the thing once a week if you are doing DH/trails + commuting.

to sum up. a HT frame does not exist for those forks. the reason everyone is so shocked is that you've altered the head angle so much that at any time the headtube could just snap and you'll be eating a face full of dirt/pavement.

everything about it is wrong - as said above you need 2 bikes really. it's not an eccentric, eclectic mix of parts or however you described it, it's a death trap, accident waiting to happen.

so I really do hope that this is a joke and you're actually a pretty good troll

The bike is the cycling equivalent of this kind of crap...

All that money you've spent on unnecessary crap, could easily have got you a decent commuter, and a decent mountain bike. Now you have neither.
    Congratulations.

Right... I'm on here for advice on a frame that would work with these shocks. Why not be helpful and recommend a frame rather than state the obvious (which I why I'm looking for a new frame).

    Yeah, me too.

Ok, i'll hold off anything cheeky.

The frame that would work with those forks is a downhill bike. Which would then not be suitable for commuting... Looks like you need another frame for the bar ends / skinny tyres etc to cover off the commuting / xc side of things :D

ETA - I agree with the comments about stressing the frame etc. I wouldn't ride it (honestly).

Just wanted to say hello :D new to the forum and looking forward to finding new ideas for my bike and any advice for problems when they come.
My final mod i want to do is change the frame for a light carbon one. I do a lot of bashing about so do you guys have any reasonably priced, great quality frames which would suit my needs :D Cheers
There is no lightweight carbon frame that will suit (damn-well-near) anything you have on that bike. Split it, sell the parts off, and spend the money on a bike that will do what you want it to do.

    One more tip for you...
Most powerful brake goes on the front. Always. No exceptions.

Get yourself a DH frame off eBay and lose the bar ends and you'll be okay.

Some expensive parts on the bike but the frame is gonna be kinda weak? Everyone is just fearful of you flying into a bus.

Plenty of people giving helpful advice on a frame - one doesn't exist.

A proper frame for most of the kit you have would be something like a Santa Cruz V-10, Demo 8, Scot Fury etc etc any DH frame basically. You could certainly go that route and buy a very cheap second hand commuter style bike to fit your travel needs and have the DH bike for your fun times. This is your only real option and to be honest not a bad path to follow if you do intend to ride proper DH. Although it would be worth noting that your rear wheel is unlikely to fit any decent DH machine as the axle width will be wrong.

If however as most people seem to be of the opinion, you dont actually ride DH but more all mountain xc style stuff where sometimes the trail points down the hill. If that is the case then I would go for lighter kit than your forks and wheels would match.

Commuter option for you - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/nework-3-id_8222474.html

then something like this http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1363677/ for DH. check what spec you have that wouldnt fit it though (for example you'd only want a single chain ring so your dual control would be redundant but not unusable, your rear wheel would need a new hub. I am not saying it would look pretty but it might fit your forks better than the trek.

Frankly, unless you are quite clear that you want to ride downhill like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB-DhUIvcac

Then you don't need a new frame, you need new forks, and smaller rotors.

    It'll be fine.

    OK - this shows DH/FR a bit better maybe - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHRqoaSX28k or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln-L8Al9JtE

Nobody in those films has triple crowns on a hardtail. I think there is a hardtail in there at one stage - I think it has 150 forks. I ride those trails on a single crown equipped Specialized Big Hit or on my old Heckler, have ridden them on a friends knackered old dirt jump bike with mechanical discs and 100mm fork - was fun on the jump runs.

People seem to understand the differences between skiing (in all it's forms), and "downhill skiing", why is it so difficult for them to do the same with mountain biking, and DH?

Where's all the old bits off that trek? Put them back on if u still have 'em, and get a new DH/all mountain type frame for the posh bits and those forks.

    Bugger me sideways !!

On the plus side, a bike spec like this and the shear balls of the OP actually shows a newbie like me that this forum is golden...... Not only is there superb banter and comedy ( which I think or hope this guy is doing ) but because of this forum even us newbies know this bike is a feckin death trap...

Anyway, if this is a real question  please listen to everyone on here - DON'T ride that bike, put all the original bits back on, sell what you want and buy a 2nd bike or DH frame for those forks...

    Good luck
