What is all the fuss about? He doesn't actually look that fresh in that picture. His mouth is open and you can tell he has been making an effort. He just isn't a rubbery face gurner like the rest of them.
As for his improvement in time trials. Isn't that what he should do? He was 3rd last year in the Tour behind 2 great time trialists. He wouldn't be much of a professional cyclist if he didn't go away and work hard on improving in the discipline that let him down the most. Plus maybe Astana have been willing to invest more in time trial science etc than Liquigas were. Maybe that is partly why he chose to leave. He's 28 now so around the ages where he should be at the peak of his ability and strength and he obviously is.
He may not be clean but there are plenty of other reasons why he has improved before deciding to accuse him of doping. If he was using EPO in a peloton where the others weren't then he wouldn't be djust in front of them looking a bit less knackered he would be minutes up. The stuff is that good. That is why the 90s climbing speeds were mad.

I love FF and want to have his children! Some quality posts mate, I love that you refuse to be brow beaten

 I like how he floats in, says what he wants knowing others won't like it and then just leaves the post ignoring everybody popping back just on the odd occasion to add more fuel to the fire and carry on as if nothing has happened.

I'd like to be able to do the same but when I say something I know might cause an argument I have a nagging feeling telling me I must click refresh every 6 seconds and answer every post whilst making myself madder and madder. :(

Ha, yeah sometimes I don't know why people disagree so often and I figured a couple of years ago that engaging in long arguments was futile and provided negative entertainment so I toned that side down a lot.

There are some decent people on this forum and the differing opinions just adds to the spice.

Just got a lot of love for this sport.

If sports fandom was rational there wouldn't be any sport left.

Up until yesterdays mountain stage/horrendous conditions I was of the opinion he was just having a great race...now...I'm not sure..but the standard of testing will, I hope discount any wrongdoing...or find him out..simple as that..it would be a shame if he has "enhanced" what appears to be a great showing...I personally hope not, but to be honest..who knows..look at Di Luca...decrying drug use only 3 or 4 days ago, then.... BOOM... a positive for EPO, makes not only him but the entire sport look a bit foolish...then the team manager claims he never wanted him...a total can of worms...even Lance made a twitter comment on what a total nobhead he was!!! How good is that!!!

Seriously though...I want Nibali to be clean, and hope he is..end of...

Tbh, I was being half sarcastic because it is based on some innuendo but he did end the article in a better manner. Still, the same, if not worse, had been written last July.

FF- can't really see it. It is only insinuating rather than straight up accusation.

One of my favourte ever posters on a differnet forum worked on an MO of posting almost exclusively quotes from films and seeing who would bite. One day he aimed the "C**t Kids" rant from In Bruges at a new guy who absolutely flipped. It was genius.

FF is a needler in that mould. He's great.

It's a well balanced article. Asks difficult questions of exactly the type that are asked on these boards daily and then builds a case for why we should have trust in what we have seen.
If the article stopped half way through then it would have been trash journalism. If it started half way through, it could arguably be representative of the 'look the other way' journalism that facilitated Omerta.

Vino is in the picture  . I was just thinking that Nibs looks like the kind of guy that likes to come first

    In fairness...

    - It wasn't a podium but a presentation on honour or Nibbles, hence the horsey silvery bucket thing
    - Vino was was there in his capacity as General Manager and National Treasure. The crowd were probably out for him as much as Nibali!
    - Most of the Giro team were also on stage plus Maxim Iglinskiy (see below)
    - Vino is full kit as there was a celebratory ride around the streets of Astana
    - I doubt if anybody from Kazakhstan would roll their eyes and point at John Terry and call him the 'Vinokourov of Soccer'
