As Nibali hasn't really had to deal with any serious challenges to his leadership of this Giro, he should gather his cojones and confront Contador and Sky's 'A' team at the Tour now if he's to become a Proper Champion...

He might be able to give the excuse that all his kit is still all wet, but not that he's too fatigued...

I would like to make it clear that Nibali is not winning this Giro because the rest are not very good. He would still win in his current form up against any rider racing today apart from Contador. He is also up against a Sky force but he was adept at using them to his own advantage and had better tactics and talent then all of them.

Yeah, fully with OCU. It's not his fault that the others have nt turned up (literally or figuratively), but nonetheless it is what's happened. That it happened to another rider makes no difference. For the exact reasons the Tour was "boring" this Giro has been "boring".

Drop the Sky Trolling Frenchie, is irrelevant and classless

Who is Nibs closest rival in this race? Evens? How has he done recently? Not been in the best of form. Didnt set anything on fire in the last TDF either?

Not taking anything away from Nibs but He is a good GT rider and will no doubt get better. But the Giro has been abt of a joke due to whether and any lack of actual racing.

In your opinion - in mine he has won (will win) a pretty poor and boring edition of the Giro.

You can make it clear all you like; still only conjecture, though.
Obviously, there are phenomenal riders at the Giro - these are mostly World Tour teams, after all - but we had all this last year at the Tour, as it becomes apparent who was really geared up for victory. Essentially, isn't that what they're racing to prove?
With the decapitation of the Sky challenge, what Nibali has had to deal with has amounted to nothing more than pop-shots from other contenders operating in teams that are by and large set up for chancer stage victories and chasing secondary jerseys. Or, in Evans's case, riding himself into form that has fleetingly shown signs of the Cadel of old: he's aiming for the Tour, so now what'll Nibali's excuse be for non-attendance? Perhaps he's promised to clear the shed in July...
It'd be great for the sport - I don't think Vince has ever beaten an in-form Contador, so he's got something to overcome there: and I think Bertie is starting to get a complex about Fenton, who, if he can avoid another Tirreno-Adriatico "moment", keeps out-Contadoring Contador...

Loving watching him cruising with panache and style. He is the type of rider to be 4mins ahead and still attack in the MTFs to come.

Heavyweight. Glad my man is owning the field. Laughing all over Sky.
For all you claims of panache, of his four minutes advantage, 3 minutes 17 have come from time trials

And a sizable slice from bonifications

Exactly - the Italian army have a better history of attacks than Nibs has going up hill in this Giro. From a GC perspective it's actually been pretty boring. I suppose we'll never know, especially with all the mountain stages being compromised by the weather but it would be nice to see a good fight going up a hill between the contenders for the overall.

...and winning the "Wiggins way". It's all about the TT these days for Nibs.

Still, he's learned from the best.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

    1. He doesnt need to attack. The lightweights have to and Nibali will cover with ease and style.
    2. He has attacked a few times already and gained time.
    3. If he was even on time he would attack and take a minute or two
    4. I wouldnt be surprised if he attacked on any mountains to come (if they come)
    5. He has form for panache over many years.

    He is certified.

I'd be surprised if he did TBH. Too much to lose with little to gain.

He'll sit back and hopefully Betancur, Evans or Sanchez (in that order of preference) will get the stage win they deserve. Then Cav will close the show.

So why was Wiggins boring, during the Tour, for using the same tactics?

 I like how he floats in, says what he wants knowing others won't like it and then just leaves the post ignoring everybody popping back just on the odd occasion to add more fuel to the fire and carry on as if nothing has happened.

I'd like to be able to do the same but when I say something I know might cause an argument I have a nagging feeling telling me I must click refresh every 6 seconds and answer every post whilst making myself madder and madder. :(

Ha, yeah sometimes I don't know why people disagree so often and I figured a couple of years ago that engaging in long arguments was futile and provided negative entertainment so I toned that side down a lot.

There are some decent people on this forum and the differing opinions just adds to the spice.

Just got a lot of love for this sport.
