    Cav-tastic!

Also if the UCI dished out points for swears in interviews, between Brad, Cav and David M GB would top the rankings by some considerable margin. Year after year.

He did look down at his gears and was spinning furiously. Cav confirms he had a mechanical and doesn't seem too happy, says they have had too many mechanicals this year. Bet the team mechanics are pleased![/quote]

The solution is, of course, staring them in the face. Switch back to down-tube gear levers and none of this 11-sprockets-on-the-block malarkey. A 5-speed block will do just fine. It's very obvious when you think about it! :D

Trust me, if I was a pro I'd be contributing my own tally to the Swears Rankings..

Black... that horrible new Spesh one

For a guy who cares so much about his wear on and off the bike I'm suprised he'd wear such an awful helmet.

Shouldn't be surprising.. specialized want to sell aero helmets so they get a high profile sprinter to wear one.

Poor old David, first race back as well I think?

I love crashing the first day of a Grand Tour: glut & shoulder bruised to hell, bike broken :( Congrats @MarkCavendish, delivers as usual.

Very close to getting boxed in.

I went against Cav in the PTP because I had a feeling his lead out train wouldn't be up to the usual standard. He was just too good in the end though.

That will be the most boring stage of the whole race I would imagine.

Matthew Harley Goss...highest paid rider at OGE. Unless things drastically change they've got to be wondering whether he's worth the money when it comes to contract renewal time this year.

    Leigh Howard looks better VFM.
  • Congrats to Cav. Total class. I too thought he was boxed in by he 2 RadioShak riders and he really had to swerve to get around Hondo who I thought pulled off a bit carelessly.

Viviani was a bit too over-exuberant with his disappointment. He'll probably win 1 stage this Giro. Hope so, his team needs it.

It's better than those ones Garmin or BMC have been wearing recently that make you look like toad from Mario brothers. A bit less in your face in black

The new era of cyclists tweeting their minds. Kittel on The Turks, Eisel on shouldergate, and on a different topic, but no less forthright:

If Modolo had half a brain he would have helped me close the gap & we could have both at least have been in the sprint..

I think Contador, Wiggins, Evans and Millar are the only ones with the full set.

I thought Cannondale were up front too far out, leaving Viviani on his own too early, so was a bit surprised, and glad, when he was still there at the finish. I expect they'll learn and improve. They did look strong, but need the right timing.

I wondered when I picked him on PTP if they would be able to box him in.
Then OPQS disappeared and he was on his own as Hondo came alongside to lean on him. (end of camera shot)
Wow he's got out the back onto other side of road and blow me if Hondo conveniently (he's got such a lot of experience that one) obstructs the manxman again.
Around him Cav goes and now he's got a clear road but the cameras have lost him to the also rans but don't worry he was last seen with a clear road and the missile wins easy.
Viviani was a bit too over-exuberant with his disappointment. He'll probably win 1 stage this Giro. Hope so, his team needs it.
Why do they need him because Sagan will be picking up the team headlines in California.

Great race for cav only just seen it on the British forces tv as they only have the highlights which am not to happy about! Did think if he was going to get boxed in!! And to go on his own was good! And nice of brad at the end saying he wish a he was in the same team to lead him out like that!
  • I'm away for the long weekend and had to make do with sky sports 3 coverage. Eurosport is being recorded for when I get back. Was Cav interviewed about the sprint finish? Particularly being blocked in by the Radioshack rider?

Did Bouhanni get relegated? I still can't work out why he was shoulder barging Blythe, it's not like he moved off his line and there was loads of road. Bernie may have gone a bit OTT but Bouhanni does look a bit of a liability.
