    Martin rides away from Vichot.

He'll get caught. He's 29 seconds down on Froome on GC. He can't afford to lose much more.

Well, yes. I wrote that before he'd attacked and this shallow climb looks a little bit more testing than initial reports suggested. Thought he would have just followed wheels.
    Ideal Sky terrain.

On Rob Hatch, he is fluent in a few European languages as far as I know, so I'd suggest his attempts at correct pronunciations are pretty much on the money.

he has a reel of his foreign language interviews on his youtube page:

Got to love a bit of Rob Hayles' enthusiasm.

It matches the general excitement level of the race so far.

Similarly I replied before knowing he was in the break. "He'll get caught" was a later edit. (It makes his attack seem a little odd, really)

Did Rob Hatch just say Kiserlovski was "taking some protaganism"!?

Kiserlovski tries an attack as Porte & Froome are the only Sky riders around.

    Hmm. Way too many adverts.

I hear Sky have gone to an ad break, just as it all kicks off.
    Big improvement.

Does Froome take the initiative here?

    Edit - I don't think he had a choice!

Froome rides away from all and up to Spilak.

Interesting move by Froome. Not lacking in confidence. 19s gap now, 5.2km to go for Froome & Spilak.

What happened to the front 3? Are Froome and Spilak in the lead?

Valverde not happy - gap up to 40" now.

Yeah just those two now. After Froome caught the others the original 3 dropped back.

Edit: the gap is going up really fast!
  • Valverde bitching about others not working. Oh, the irony...

From a PTP perspective and also my bet for today I hope Froome doesn't gift this stage win.

I picked Spilak for today so I hope he does!

I think you might be safe there. I predict Froome will do an Uran style look over his shoulder

I reckon Spilak would win a sprint 9 times out of 10 anyway.

Fair play to Froome, he could've just sat in confident he'd out TT those around him tomorrow.

Chasers around a minute behind. Impressive ride by Froome, and Spilak might be on the GC podium after that effort.

I only just started watching 7k from the end, what happened to Hejsedal and Talansky?

Don't know about Hesjedal but Talansky went out the back during some of the initial attacks on the climb (while Porte was still with Froome IIRC).

Valverde played a blinder spoiling the chase there, marking all the moves and refusing to do any work. Froome and Spilak really owe him a beer.

Ryder bailed out to concentrate on the giro.

Apparently Talansky has been sick all week.

I believe this to be a cover story, he was really weighed down by the pressure of my PTP pick.

Was better than I expected, given the route change.
Behind Froome, the top 10 is separated by next to nothing and now we have the usual Romandie over long ITT.
