You just need to zero to hero to get a mechanical.

Don't count out Quintana. He has balls as big as boulders to attack from distance and knows how to TT.

If Contador is on the limit and not doing so well you can bet your bottom dollar he will attack from far repetitively and we all know that Sky can't handle a GC race that doesn't follow the Plan.

I'm practising my non existent French language skills by translating from the feed here: http://www.tourderomandie.ch/en/1-home

I was alright working out time gaps and break riders, starting to struggle now though! May have to deploy Google translate.

I wish they brought in that GPS idea so you could actually work out where a particular rider is.

Cat 2 climb finishes 30km from finish. Downhill all the way. Typical Meersman stage.

My new PTP strategy of actually bothering to look at the stage profile has immediately paid off. Hoorah!

Le Belge Gianni Meersman (OPQ) s'impose devant Giacomo Nizzolo (RLT). Roberto Ferrari (LAM). Résutlats provisoires

Huge group contesting but I didn't spot many big names in the top 10.
I thought Cav was in the peleton for the run in?

Inner Ring said the climb was easier than it looked, I thought the new skinnier Cav would have got over it, especially with Giro imminent.

    Inner Ring clearly knows nothing!

    Meersman specialises in these stages.

Why work for Cav on a day like today if you have Meersman??

Cav may have been able to get over it... but may have decided to take it easy-ish today. Tomorrow is a better stage for him isn't it?

To hone your lead out for that little race in Italy next month? Take it Cav was dropped (I wasn't watching).

He came in with Grabsch and 4 others at the very back, 11-21 after Meersmann.

Tour of Romandy is on Sky Tv. Is this going to be the way forward?? Is Eurosport going to be outbid by Sky telly and we'll have to up our Subscriptions to Sky??

Sorry if this has been talked about before on this thread.

As a follow-up to Frenchies post with Cavendish picture:

Need to get this out there - Cav is great, like properly great, a true great. His talent speaks for itself BUT man does he look sh*t, he looks sh*t in cycling kit, he looks sh*t on a bike, his non-sprinting riding style is sh*t.

    Anyway, as you were.

I know there's a lot of anti Sky (tv channel as well as the team) feeling on here. But could there be a chance that Eurosport didn't want to show Romandie and it's nothing to do with Sky outbidding them for it?

Eurosport are showing the Tour of Turkey - which to most of us is seen as a lesser race than Turkey. With the smaller races they usually commentate from a room in West London, but aren't they actually in Turkey for this? I'm thinking they get some quite favourable terms from the organisers to show the race and have commentators on the ground, as it's a good travel advert for Turkish tourism. As a result they're showing Turkey rather than Romandie.

Given that Eurosport seem quite keen to show Snooker on both channels whenever they can and it's the World Champs at the moment, I'm getting the feeling they just turned down the opportunity to show Romandie in the UK.
Maybe had the snooker not been on they'd have wanted to show both races.

Just following a ticker atm. 2:31 to Burghardt (BMC), Brandle (AMI) and Hoogerland (Vacansoleil-DCM) and the race is at the 85km mark, close to (or on) the Cole Chaumont (2nd), 3.1 km to 11.6%.

It's on the Romandie website, which for some reason refuses to play ball for me (using Safari).
