Yep. It appears that the 'Clasicamano' is back.

That the guy who thinks Canc has a motor?

Anyone got a link to the full results list yet? I want to see how far super Sky boys rolled in, whether Downing finished and where Hushovd, Voeckler, Breshcel, Amador and Pozzato placed.

Nah. It's the other half of the Luigi codename.

    *Very rare serious head*
That shows a staggering lack of respect for his fellow humans by Sagan. Time for him to show that he deserves to be acknowledged as an evolved being, as well as an outrageous athletic talent.

Christ this place has really gone downhill in the past 6 months. So much arguing and snide comments-it used to be a pretty chilled and respectful place in the main......every thread nowadays descends into bickering and trying be an internet warrior. I find myself visiting less and less as a result.

Anyway, back on topic.....somewhere earlier in the thread someone asked whom would stop Sagan when Boonen and Canc are gone.....bit depressing isn't it really: Boonen didn't feature this year (obviously you can't trot out the to finish first, first you must finish line) so Canc basically beat Sagan.....not exactly a vintage field in the last few years for the cobbled stuff is there? Boonen and Canc are the class acts....Pozzato, Hushovd, Flecha...all been up there at one stage but not exactly heavyweights as such, EBH doesn't seem to have it at this level, you'd think that Gilbert would feature more than he has. That Boonen and Canc are legends is beyond doubt, but the strength of opposition hasn't really been great over the last few years for me.

    T'was me.

Maybe Phinney or someone could morph into a younger Canc type, and I think Seb Vanmarcke has all the qualities of a new Hoste - a face like a train crash too helps.

I had a laugh over a lad who is a character and did something inappropriate. Some people in here needs to calm the f down. Who knows - maybe they know eachother and, as the cheeky lad he is, he thought it was fun. I'm sure she told him to f'cuk off if she was offended by it.

I thought it was a good shot and a 'typical Sagan'. Now shoot me. But stop your analysing shit about how I am towards women based on a cheeky comment when you know f'uck all about it. Thank you very much.

Sagan needs to be had up for that, he's just a boy I guess but jayzuss thats naff ... can we get rid of the podium girls...its just so anachronistic and crass, just fuels the behaviour

    Cycling traditions, anachronistic?

    No way.

yeah I get this ain't no big thing but thats why it should go.... johnny bugno in the team car with the lipton ice tea girls is a great yarn and all... but ATEOTD is just naff..the fact that it is trivial makes it more the case for dropping the entire thing... if it's no big thing it won't be missed

is it harmless fun....well when it gets to unreconstructed anti-metrosexual sex hobgoblins like myself thinking its all a bit much then I seriously doubt the necessity of all this.

at the very very very least some sort of protocol briefing for the PROFESSIONAL riders and a more elegant style akin to the Credit lyonaise models

I am not overly down on Sagan individually here as much as the entire thing.

I agree that there seems to be a lack of five star riders and the race missed Boonen (even though I doubt he had the form or motivation). At least Boonen would have the courage to try and pull back Cancellara even by himself rather than roll in as a 'nothing' rider.

Apologies if you think I'm being an Internet warrior but I'm not going to sit by while someone condones sexual assault. For me that kind of behaviour makes the forum a not very nice place to visit. I agree it detracts from the discussion of the racing but I can't as a woman complain silently about public attitudes towards women, I feel I should challenge sexism when I see it. I hope you can understand that.

Anyway Fabs was awesome, the new route I'm still not convinced about and I'm very sad I'm going to miss Roubaix.

It's a tactic I think we will see more and more as people learn how this course works.

With the loops there's a fair bit of gap after the Kwaremont Paterberg double, so we can expect more second row riders who can't hold the fiercest pace the big boys set going ahead of the game/the climbs to be in play later on.

The likes of Stijn Vandenberg or Chava should have tried this for sure, especially with their flat speed.

That polish QS guy was outstanding today by the way.

lotto where the only team who came out to play with a decent counter plan...

Sagan did near enough the best ride he could... but in reality he just shouldn't have come through a all...not sure it would have made a difference

Sporza guys loving Kwiatowski. Formidable mega-talent apparently.
Really pleased to see Kwiatowski mixing it up when he is a stage race rider.

I love this rider. Showing real talent in all races he enters and certainly not afraid to mix it with the best of them. Been following him closely this year and am really hoping and expect he could go on to big things. He can TT and climb. He is also stylish on the bike.

Oh, so you did read my 'Europcar bullshit' - I was waiting for a reply from you as you obvisouly didn't agree on it...

I wrote something on page 8. But you're more than welcome to believe that Europcar were trying to force a split or drop favourites at 120km to go, whereas i'm happy to believe they were riding for position (like everyone always is at Flanders before the hellingen)

Anyway leaving the sanctimonious tones behind, can anyone remember what the plan for the new route was? Was it two years the review or three?

    stuff.

Yeah. Cycling has more issues than pretty girls who do a little kiss for the camera and hand out the flowers and champagne. Couple of them have gone on to marry cyclists right? It's hardly like those women inbetween boxing rounds.

For sure you can have some gender/feminist issues with it, and objectively they play out, but it's not something that particuarly grates. It's tastefully done usually. They'd be better off showing the female's racing and focussing on that.

Sagan comes off worse doing that.

I think ThomThom is just trying to get a € for every misogynistic cliche they can muster Jane. We've had, clam down, it was a joke, perhaps they knew each other, what do you know, it was only a bit of fun, if she had a problem she could have told him. I'm waiting for the she was asking for it because she was a podium girl, her clothes, she was drink etc.

I might use this conversation as an example of day to day misogynistic discourse when I next give a lecture on gender.

And I really didn't want this thread to become about that picture! Grrrr.

Can we go back to discussing how Cancellara can just crest a hill better than anyone while on the attack and the slim pool of really quality one day racers?
    Correlation is not causation.

lotto where the only team who came out to play with a decent counter plan...

Sagan did near enough the best ride he could... but in reality he just shouldn't have come through a all...no sure it would have made a difference

You can see what he's trying to do.

He's saying to Canc "don't worry, i'll work with you to the finish to keep everyone away".

yeah he was faking it a bit and I think we all smelt it. Luigi dropped back to watch him the first +2nd time up the paterberg..

Greipel, Kwiatkowski, Roelandts and Cancellara were the real racers today. Everyone else followed wheels (well, obviously not but in the spirit of this forum... ).

Surprised at how anonymous Chavanel was and then how far back Terpstra finished given their De Panne form.

I thought it was a good shot and a 'typical Sagan'. Now shoot me. But stop your analysing shoot about how I am towards women based on a cheeky comment when you know f'uck all about it. Thank you very much.

Whatever. Let's end this by saying that I respect women and I would never grab a women's butt on a podium in Flandern nor will I ever advice Peter Sagan to do it.

Now, excuse me while I unlock my girlfriend out for her daily walkaround. The chain tends to be a bit tricky as it has developed a bit of rust over the years.
