Why give the countdown then stop them from riding???

Still looks vile - can't be fun at all having thawed out a bit in the bus.

In for a bit of a different MSR - that's a wee bit of an understatement

Was just thinking that however miserable Scotland was this morning, it's heartening that the Italian riviera is grim as fupp tio.

  • It really is a day for shattering illusions of toughness isn't it?

Riding without mudguards gives you stomach ache? !

Is that Brian Smith commentating? He just used the phrase "light the afterburners" Did Hugh Porter sell it to Eurosport to spite the BBC?

Got to say I'm a bit disappointed with TB. always considered him a hardman considering his P-R palmares.

Just watching Eurosport.. one of the Lotto guys in the break looked like he was using a makeshift bum-guard sticking out the back of his saddle?! Is that UCI legal?

    Could be an Ass Saver?:

I've done races where I'd have loved one of those. Totally breaks 'the rules', but no soggy bum has to be a good thing.

I'm going for EBH having an outside chance, being Scandinavian he shouldn't have an issue with the weather.

Looking at how glacial these roads are I think even the good descenders will think twice before going too crazy.

Gap is down under 6 minutes. Those ass saver things are awesome, have one on my campus bike. Would just come off in case of crash.

I know conventional ones are banned, and you can see why what with pointy stays and all. Even the UCI would have trouble arguing that a bit of flexy plastic is a threat though.

On the face of it Boonen is being a bit of a prima donna - if he was a footballer he'd get fined for refusing to play. See what he says after the race th ough.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
