  • Unfortunate crash for Modolo yesterday, could be out with factured scaphoid. Shame if so, he started the season in great form in Argentina.

    EDIT: break confirmed.

    When did Frenchie become a Cav fanboi? Nice to see a small break stick in the last few kms.

    Why is it a surprise? Frenchie admires riders with panache, and Cav displays panache frequently. Not panache to the same level of other riders, but it's there.

    It's a surprise 'coz he spent yonks slating 'sit in sprinters'.

    I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

  • I like Cavendish, and I like him more as time passes. He isn't in my top echelon of riders but still better than most. I like to be entertained and he is entertaining.

    The discussion above wasn't about loving Cav, it was getting facts correct over OPQS.

    LMAO! Yes he did! :mrgreen:

    Perhaps he considers Cav to be a cut above, perhaps after watching incredible displays such as the win on Stage 18 of the 2012 TdF...

    Pa-bleeding-nache!

    One of best Tour sprints ever (ok, the ones I've seen anyways)

    To be fair, a quick scan back through Frenchie's posts does seem to show he was pro Cav. He was just anti-sprinters in general and didn't seem to take to Cav being at Sky.

    Yep - watching that stage 18 sprint with my son was one of those rare beautiful shared sporting TV moments. Think we'll still be talking about it in 20 years time.

    Hmmm. Was that the one were I was screaming at Roche to keep f***ing going.

    Or the other one.

    Yes. I told you not to leaving your shandy on the arm of the sofa; you always spill your drinks when you get excited! :wink:
  • Ooo Al Jazeera is recapping yesterday - which I missed live :(

    Said the man with the black tie and the other one (whose name does not flash up on the bottom of the screen) are having an in depth discussion about OPQS missing the echelons yesterday. This might be the most exciting thing about today's coverage. We have TTT to look forward to correct?

    Here is a visual metaphor for that stage:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2vkwy2vdP4

    Roche = Jetskier
    LL Sanchez = Surfer
    Cav = Wave

    It seems no one knows, but there will be breadsticks of blame according to Rendell - I've given up on the Arabic feed, spend too long trying to follow the commentary and miss ALL the 'action' :wink:

    I really dislike national kits like that. What's next, just some hardly-visible rainbow stripes added to an existing kit? Teams should show off the national champs on their team, they're more distinctive than all the vanilla kits and if anything stand out for sponsors more.
    It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    Ah but they don't! Sponsors are wary of riders that are National Champs as the space for their logo is reduced. I don't know if the UCI do this for road racing but on MTB jerseys they limit the amount of space for logos so much that riders are actively discouraged from attending their national championships by their teams!
    We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
