Yes I ll name and shame, the 3 most recent examples being Biking Bernie, Trev the Rev and the everlasting dennisn.
Debate/threads can be robust but they are always carried out based on fact and reality, in an intelligent reasonable way and with the minimum of name calling.
Admittedly Frenchie is a law unto himself, but still we all still value his contribution.
Indeed.
The debate itself was extremely calm and restrained.
Hence the quality.
After all, no one expected it to end with a real shift of position from either side, did they?"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

That's why, despite what he may think, I enjoy Frenchie's contributions when he stands his ground ( less so when he resorts to the defensive 'you know nothing I'm ignoring you' approach though).
And Frenchie's 'you know nothing I'm ignoring you' routine is my favourite bit. It's ploughing through 20 hi-res photos while reading the forum on a smartphone that annoys me.Twitter: @RichN950 -
Yeah, I thought afterwards that may have been it but I read it the way you intended (seemed the logical meaning of the dig).0

Yes. I was admiring the economy of language, and indulging in some Kremlinology. Run for the hills if he ever reps a TeamSky Spotify playlist....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

Like you I find twitter conversations difficult to follow, I've really only given it a go these last couple of days, but as far as I can make out Festinagirl wasn't complaining about sexist comments being made about herself but about Richmond Racer - specifically that it was sexist for some forum members to try to find out what she (RR) looks like.

That's what I thought too...
It would have been nice if micron hadn't made the mistake of making some rubbish up. I started off thinking that perhaps the 140 character limit of twitter had meant I had misread her, unfortunately, she just ended up confirming my rather unflattering opinion of her.
That said, forums are more fun when when people have different opinions. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -

So she took a clearly joking comment about another person as offensive when the person in question had taken the comment in the spirit it was intended?0 -

I found the twitter conversation hard to follow too. But didn't @festinagirl bring up sexism only after @drheadgear (notadoc?) took umbrage and accused her of sexism for refering to RR as Joan of Arc...0 -

Perhaps time for me to say a few words myself?
I dont find this forum particularly sexist. There are a shoot load more environments/hubs/whatever that are really sexist. So Inky makes a crack in a post a couple of hours ago - Above the Crows and I both give him a cyber slap.
I post here because I absolutely love cycling and love discussing all things procycling-related. I'm really not ars*d about following up every time someone posts something that another woman could find sexist, cos generally its meant to be funny and/or not intended to be offensive. To my mind its important to be able to differentiate from the real offensive comments (and then I'll go in swinging).
So sometimes up go pics of podium girls...yeah, well, not my thing and I think the practice is rather outmoded but I'm not going to go on a rant about it.
Frenchie puts up a pic of Eddy Boss looking beefy and I enjoy. It cuts both ways, eh?
I could say something about the distinct lack of Bernie pics though...a severe disappointment. If any of you boys feel you'd like to be nice sometime, a Bernie photo extravaganza would work just fine.
Peace and all that jazz.

Also. Can I recommend the Unfollow button?
People exist who proclaim that the mistakes Sky made initially ("clean team", riders and coaches with 'history', blah blah), and clumsy attempts to smoothly cover-up these mistakes, are equivalent to the high crimes of running a sophisticated doping conspiracy. They appear to be unable (unwilling in some cases) to peel the doping allegations away from the perfectly normal soiled kecks of any organisation. No debate is possible with this group.
Some also have a vested interest in keeping the boil un-lanced (sorry). Hot doping stories generate page-views and Twitter followers. Good news less so. USADA's reasoned decision was a disaster for this group. Calamity would follow if Paul Kimmage were to be born again. These players are expert players of the game and will always feint to avoid a direct hit.
The big surprise to me was the total absence of any suspicious (never mind superhuman) performance to debate. Breathtaking....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

Thanks Eki! I may happen to be aware of such a site...but to be honest, a couple of pics do for me and then I kinda want to get back to discussing whether he can repeat his G-W triumph ever again.0

First apologies for ducking out so abruptly - school run mum day.
Secondly apologies for doing something quite so dumb - unlike me to let frustration get the better of me. Always try to argue the point - whether I agree or not - calmly and rationally. I blew it. I put my hands up to being ridiculous - still, it played to your already low expectations of me so there you go
Funny how I could have put money on ddraver coming & blabbing a confidence - ah, well, tant pis as the French say - was only to be expected. Did enjoy your thoughts on how to reorganise the racing calendar in light of the demise of world series cycling, though. And thanks to the rat on tips for tackling a sticky situation at my kids school - much appreciated.
Perhaps we can now put aside misconceptions on both sides? Willing to find the common ground & the decent arguments if you are0 -
