What a fantastic Brazil game....anyway.
I think Contador will win as well. Looked very strong all season and will be hitting his peak at the tour.
I know a lot of people fancy Froome but this time round with strong climbers on form going into the 3rd week I will be surprised if he makes the podium. He tends to have a bad day or 2. The cobbled section could see a few GC contenders lose the race right there. Back to the football.0 -
Contador for me.0

I get the feeling there'll be a surprise winner who wins like Sastre did with some steady racing then one big stage win ... Much the same as the Dauphine.Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it.0

Again I hope It's not another "Seen it all before"- ie Iban Mayo.

Froome is favourite, but Bertie is on fire. It could be brilliant watching them go hammer and tongs at each other. Promises to be the closest battle for some years.
Let's not forget some of the other riders who will make the spectacle too though, it's not just the GC, we have Cav trying to prove he is better than Marcel, we have a potential challenger in the Green jersey to Sagan in Kristoff, we have cobbles, we have less mountainss, we have no TTT (which is good to watch but very unfair on the Katushas and FDJs of this world), we have beautiful Yorkshire.
And we have the domestiques who make it happen.
Bring. It. On.0 -
Forgot about Valverde! Pinot has been showing some form lately too, and maybe one of IAM's duo of Frank and Reichenbach could be top 10 contenders.
I've got Matthews (100/1) e/w for the green jersey (also Kwiatkowski @ 125/1, but I don't remember making that one).0 -

It's such an impressive thing to do. Do you know how many of them actually finished the Tour in their first year?
2013: Vuillermoz ; DNF: Dennis, Van Poppel, Lutsenko
2012: 0
2011: Navardauskas
2010: Malori, Valls ; DNF: Felline
2009: Geschke ; DNF: Costa
2008: Froome, Velits
2007: Thomas ; DNF: Cavendish
2006: Ricco
2005: Grivko ; DNF: Corioni
2004: Loosli
No doubt I have missed a couple.
I'm surprised that well over half actually finished. Impressive.
I can't see any first year riders on the provisional start list for this year.0 -

I've got Kwia at 150 but I fear for that one placed during the ascent vs Sagan many months ago.
I am very tempted to have a few squidlies on Kristoff at 20/1 E/W for the green. He's already said he was going to target it.
Agree on Reichenbach, he looks decent, may just scrape a top 10 if all goes well. I think Valverde could surprise with the parcours this year. Look at his TT the other day plus less mountains, plus his form earlier in the year. No, I don't think he will win it, but he climbs steadily at his own pace and comes back time and time again on stages. If he can put the race together and not lose big time on one stage he is in with a shout of the podium. Plus there are a few hilly stages that he can do well in and pick up a few seconds here and there on FD and AC.0 -
Van den Broeck is good value for a podium if he stays upright.
Nibs winning the national champs is a good sign though.
But then he's a slightly better one day rider than he is a GT rider.....0 -

He did alright in that Vuelta and Giro.0 -

Yep, he may not win it, but he is in with a good shout of a podium. Most are doing 1/5 on E/W which is still quadruple your cash.

Just put a tenner E/W at 18/1 1/4 for a place on Kristoff.0

Win what?
He could possibly win the TdF if Froome, Contador, TVG, Talansky, Bardet, Valverde, Nibali, Costa, VdB, Konig, Rolland and Fuglsang all get hit by lightening.
Mollema is a far better bet than at least Costa and Konig and very probably Rolland and Bardet.0 -

Mollema is a straight up GC rider and good strategist. I'm not convinced that some on that list have that aspiration. Aiming for the podium is much different than just getting lucky on certain stages. His consistency and ability will lead him to a grand tour win at some point I am sure.0 -
Is there a TTT this year? If so, OGE again for me. I could have had a tenner on them last year at 20/1. By the time I had created my BetFair account, they'd closed the book0

 deejay, The Brazil game was so exciting.
I must say that Contador is a GT winner on many occasions and one of the true legends of Cycling. Win or Lose he always fights and rides aggressive and a true proven Champion.
Now get yourself back to sleep0 -

I guess we will see. Bardet was 15th last year and promises better, it's Costa's first Tour as leader, but I agree Rolland won't be there as he has already done the Giro.0 -

Tour de France stage 2. Un. Believable. Some riders will be in danger of missing the time cut.0 -

Surely not on day 2. Depends if a classics specialist with no designs of overall bit fancies yellow really takes it to the peloton. Day 3 is a bit of a rest day for most of the riders too.0 -

Who is Simon Richardson?0 -
Writes for Cycling Weekly I think.
Journo, quite experienced0 -
Well, it's happened. It's got to that stage just before the Tour starts when I get massively excited and overly emotional. I love this race so much. I am simply incapable of articulating what it means to me. I am sure I'm not alone!
Now, to watch Chasing Legends with the volume cranked up for the 200th time...0 -

Can anyone actually see that happening? They have had big days in the Ardennes and Vosges in the past with no major issues.0 -
