I'm off to Brittany next Tuesday for 10 days and the wife just asked why I don't try watching the Tour somewhere over there. Typically the northwest of France has been missed this year. Are there any stages worth watching within say 4 hours drive of Brittany (slightly southeast of St Malo)? Would like to go to Port de Bales even with an overnight stay but I suspect I'll struggle to find anywhere to stay close enough to walk up the climb.

Good piece on Nibbles chances. Most interestingly is the vote at the bottom, 64% of responders don't think he will win the TDF
  • Not too sure where to put this but I like the sentiment:

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/brailsf ... ench-rider

Pressed on who could achieve this, Brailsford mentioned the names of Romain Bardet, Warren Barguil and Thibaut Pinot, and also mentioned sprinters Arnaud Démare and Julien Alaphilippe, the 22-year-old Omega Pharma-QuickStep rider, as huge talents.

"There is a new generation of French riders who believe in themselves," he said. "[Kenny] Elissonde is a very good rider, [Nacer] Bouhanni too. Little by little we can see that the level in France is improving, especially at the Junior World Championships.

Brailsford refused to be drawn when asked which rider he was most interested in, but confirmed that he really likes the idea of achieving this goal.

all of them? - why not - Brailsford looking for a team with a bit more personality/identity?

I'd say 64% are right. Unless Contador's form has fallen off a cliff I just can't see Nibs holding onto that lead in the mountains....he'll also lose a bucket full of time in the TT I'd imagine.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

His TT'ing has improved recently though, he was 4th in the longer ITT in the Giro last year, not far behind Wiggins and Dowsett (albeit with a bike change for Wiggins). I don't think Contador would want to rely on taking a lot of time in that late TT, he'll want to keep hitting him in the mountains and hope he can crack him for a couple of minutes at some point.
  • SKy have just posted Pate's data for week one of the Tour:
