Getting a £100 Premium Bond prize for a change.

    That's my PB.

Me too. Made a change from the £25ers. I guess they'll be changing the returns soon in light of the change in interest rates, so maybe will get the odd better one in future.

    Changed recently I think:

Read somewhere the effective rate changed from 1.4% to 2.2%

Thanks. Interesting to see the bands and number of prizes listed like that. No wonder that the £100 prize is the PB for most.

Not sure I have won anything other than multiples of £25 i.e. multiple wins as opposed to a higher value single one.

One episode down, and 272 to go. And yes, it did, while I practised my scales.

I think I might have had one £50 previously, but otherwise all in 25's. With the general turbulence at the moment, it doesn't seem a bad place to have a stash.

    From my energy supplier Bulb:

Just so you know, we'll take your monthly payment of £48.78 from your bank account in three days. This will cover your next month's usage.

I can beat that but thought it rude to do so.
    Cheered me up though. 😉

Getting a complimentary ticket to a morning 'coffee and cake' concert in an old pile I've wanted to visit for ages, the weather being lovely right on cue, and the music being jolly good.

Remembering at T-2.5h before penalty card is shown that I need to pay the Gummint £2.50 as I sat in an annoying long slow queue to go through this hole in the ground under the Lahndahn sewer known as the Dartford crossing.

    Upside: 'only' pay std 2.50.

Downside: wtf in the so-called modern world does one have to remember to do so...

    This is a sh£t country, isn't it.

Had to go into the ULEZ when dropping my daughter to Uni and if I hadn’t checked beforehand may well have missed that I’d entered it. Even knowing I needed to pay they made the process overly complicated. I couldn’t just pay, I had to register first and it took ages for confirmation of my registration to come through. I previously got caught out in Birmingham, I went to pay before going and for some reason the transaction didn’t get finalised so despite reminding a few people I met they needed to pay the first I realised I hadn’t paid was when the fine came. It’s almost like they want people not to pay so they can fine them.

Dartford crossing you're let off the first offence if you pony up the crossing fee. Not tried repeat offending.

Remembered I crossed the Mersey toll bridge at the start of a 5 hour drive and consequently forgot to pay by midnight.
Can’t even pay the fine early and have to wait for the penalty notice..

Anyhow, winning £50 on the Football Pools cheered me up - or look at it another way, that's 20 Dartford Crossings :)

Applied for my driving licence renewal on Saturday. The online process was really simple and the DVLA claimed they expected it to be issued within 14 days. Knowing the issues the DVLA have doing their job I took that with a pinch of salt and was a bit worried as I'd left it later than I should have to apply but then I received the new licence in the post today. Is this a record for a Government agency? Even better is I as able to use the photo from my current passport which also expires this month so I look 10 years younger!

Gosh, you must be young. My last licence was issued in 1992 when I moved house, and I'll next need to renew it in 2034.

Yeah, every 10 years since they brought in the photocard licence. I did have the old paper one until either I got my first house or moved to my current place and had to renew. The photocard comes in really useful as a ready source of ID if needed though. Part of my recent panic is that I'm flying to Edinburgh in a few weeks and whilst no passport is needed some approved photo ID is and both my driving licence and passport expire before I travel. It was unlikely I'd get a new passport in time at whilst it looks like you can use one up to 5 years after it expires from the Easyjet website for this purpose I didn't want to risk it.
