Getting people on the train to move their bag of the seat so I can sit down. The more they look like they are trying to stop someone sitting next to them the more it cheers me up.

Conversely, if you want the pair to yourself, stroking the seat and winking does the trick.
    Risky though. 🤣

    Sound up

Note. The audio is a live call to a phone-in show, the animation and some sound effects were added later to turn it into a TV short

It is a 'listen to the end'

That is crazy! Why didn't he just pick the catatonic hen up and put it outside?

Tomorrow's mini budget is likely to cheer me up.

Are you kidding? It's ticked the two main boxes of less tax for Stevo and winding up the lefties.

Two important points, but not the only ones.

Although it's definitely done both  All we need now is to get onto the bonfire of the EU regs...

Surely there is only one metric - whether it makes him better off.

I doubt anybody in the UK has been left better off so I would see this as putting a brave face on it

"Please write a review". Annoys the brown stuff out of me but on this occasion and knowing the supplier well, I decided to write the review (on a car part, ffs).

"I didn't know where I was going until I bought this part and it changed my life... blah... blah..."

...and then I was asked to follow up the review with a photo. So I did:

Getting a confirmation email for my discount of the Energy Bill Support Scheme and seeing my new monthly direct debit.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

My 'cheering-upness' is tempered by the fact that the bail-out is both helping to sink the UK's finances and adding to the energy companies profits at our expense.

Stop trying to spoil one of the very few rays of light I have right now. It's like I'm happy with my gold investments, but that's like finding a tenner when you've lost a ton.

  • Anyway, @pblakeney you can cheer yourself up again that you haven't got a mortgage to pay. Neither have I, but make sure you don't tell Rick.

Don't worry, I won't mention it to Rick that I haven't had a mortgage for 18 years now.

I won't mention that you haven't had a mortgage to Rick either. Your secret is safe with me.

Maybe I'm not quite so cheerful now, as I think I've only been mortgage-free for about fourteen years.

I paid off my mortgage at 41 if that helps. 😉
    But keep it quiet. Shhhh.

Nice. I did so at 43. But kidz these days eh? Avocado lattes or whatevs.
    Oh, yeah shoosh.

Given that the alternative to getting older isn't a great option, one might as well cheer oneself up with the little wins that come along the way.

In better news, spot prices of gas are down a lot from what they were. A lot. So it may not end up that expensive - especially if winter is quite warm.
