So the kitchen I am replacing is obviously DIY and that is why it is not only falling apart but unrepairable.

I DIY'd ours. Perfectly doable if you're that way inclined. Kids do make it tougher though.
    Absolutely not that way inclined.

I intend to hand over money, live somewhere else for a week and return to a new kitchen.

Same here, it's really not difficult. Going to rejig ours in the not too distant. Worktops are the only thing that might need a specialist depending on what material we go for.
I got my kitchen half price and the fitting was on offer at 50% too so it was a no brainer and a good decision too as I was flat out on PPP.
I did want a hockey stick joint in the worktop and the fcukers didn't do it for me which means a bit of warping had to be dealt with plus G clamp plus underside brace.
North American Walnut worktops - stunning and have held up well with tri-annual oiling.

Completing my usual morning with the coffee wake up the brain Sudoku puzzle in strict numerical sequence, i.e. all the 1s, then all the 2s et al. Ok, it was an easy one but still, have never done that before. Positive omen for a sunny day.

On a similar note for me completing the US states no outlines minefield on Sporcle in the order they come up.

That's what we did, DIY isn't my thing and even if I did it there would be imperfections and having patched up the previous kitchen for about 20 years just wanted the new one to be perfect. I'd have also still needed to hire an electrician, gas fitter and plumber anyway. We didn't use Wren's fitters but a builder who had done kitchens for friends and he also redid our garage conversion after we'd had a major roof leak.

We didn't move out but moved everything into the conservatory and set up our camping stove out there

Ours took just over a week including the walls being skimmed and floor being tiled (with two days where the builders didn't show up). It is a small kitchen though.

??? Ours took 3 days and that included getting the floor tiled. It was measured up in advance though.

For clarity DIY kitchens is a brand. They are ready made units. Just very cheap and decent quality. You don't get the expensive show room and modelling service.

Mine took 3 weeks and have had conversations with people since and I have been very close with 3 weeks.

I honestly don’t know how you can dismantle an old kitchen, make good, do the electrics, gas and water, install and do the tiling etc in 3 days.

Whoever did yours should learn to drag it out so they can charge more.

Replacement kitchen so little impact on electrics, gas or water.

We had to have the kitchen basically installed before they could measure for the worktops.

The correct way to do it. Allows for any out of square/parallel/plumb variations. Making the worktop to the theoretical dimensions of the cabinetry it covers often ends up with uneven overhang and gaps to be filled when installed.

It’s in the contract it takes 5 working days and I don’t pay any more if it takes longer.

So it’s up to them. I’m staying at my parent’s house who hopefully will have gone on holiday.

My ex boss bought an aga and they went to cooking courses and the whole 9 yards to get the most out of it.
I’d love to enjoy cooking but I just don’t.

Most kitchens (certainly in my price range) seem to just come with standard lengths of worktop - 3m in my case from memory - and they get cut down during fitting.

    Going over several climbs today.
    1.68 kms average 11.4%
    1.87 kms average 9.5%
    5.09 kms average 8.4% which included 1.55 kms average 12.3% and I saw 27%.
