Not sure if I mentioned this one a few weeks ago but the size of potatoes supermarkets are trying to pass off as 'baking potatoes' these days. They're getting smaller than the ones I would boil, I shouldn't be able to close my hand around a baking potato.1

Also, on the Bo Derek theme, does that make @capt_slog and/or @pblakeney Dudley Moore?Ben

Being constrained to school holidays is tolerable, but train companies then choosing this as a convenient time to not run trains is annoying.1

I'd take his money. And Bo Derek.Ben6899 said:Also, on the Bo Derek theme, does that make @capt_slog and/or @pblakeney Dudley Moore?
In the '80s. Probably could do with his joke writing skills too.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I think pics are needed to settle this point."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Breath of the Wild 2 being delayed to 2023. Can't say I'm too surprised, though.0

However, I never saw what all the fuss was about regards Bo Derek, but then again maybe Dudley Moore didn't either.
The older I get, the better I was.0 -

Same for all power companies. Just take a photo of your meter reading.0

If we think that there has been a squeeze on living standards, this is the beginning of something extra-ordinary.
I noticed the French govt. set a 4% price cap.
Whilst energy companies moan about the cost of wholesale fuel prices, they are still making huge profit and are profiting from this.
When you have a millionaire c*nt of a chancellor, then you cannot expect anything more than his token efforts to curb costs to the general public.
I would bet my life on certain players patting him on the back.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

There are suppliers, and there are suppliers.
The suppliers of accounts are going burst, the suppliers of the fuel are rolling in it.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

They were little more than brokers though, weren't they? Not sure how we will look back on that particular business model.TheBigBean said:

But the point is well made, to distinguish between those that produce, those that produce and generate, and those that produce, generate and sell to the end-user.
I am never comfortable when a company that is making disgusting profits in one part of their business bleets about costs in another part, because of the prices it charges itself.0 -

Tories don't like windfall taxes because it sends a bad message to donors.pinno said:

Are oil companies not allowed to make profit?
Or only when prices are low? Because that really doesn't make sense.
I find the "oil companies making a fortune off high energy prices" argument really annoying.1 -
Profits should be within reason when you are providing an essential service.0
-
Correct, hence the need for regulation that you don't have in many other sectors.shirley_basso said:Profits should be within reason when you are providing an essential service.
A windfall tax isn't going to achieve a whole lot though, other than a small short term tax break that will end up benefitting people on modest six figure incomes as much as people on zero hours, like all Tory financial policies.0
