Less than 15% of tests are blood. The total number works out at around 1 test per player per season in the premiership.
And it's the off-season where they do all the bulking up (legal or not)

I'm a big rugby fan but that's laughable! Phil Winstanley is not fit for purpose if he seriously believes one test per player per year is 'taking anti-doping seriously'. I don't for one single moment think it's a clean sport any more, given the size and pace modern players have, and they're getting bigger and bigger....

    Russians doping? Well, I never.

And there was me thinking Russia being banned was all a politically-motivated witch hunt

It's as if meldonium was one of your five a day in Russia... seems a fairly common drug that they fail on!

This x100. Massive (in both senses of the world) amount of doping (allegedly) going on.

Why would Man City want to subvert the Whereabouts and drug testing protocols?

    Hmmm *rubs chin*
I've been having another think about the Manchester City and Bournemouth whereabouts situations and have concluded it's not really a big deal at all.

The next time a Premiership club gets caught out for this I will assume it was just an error and should be ignored by all.

I'm pretty sure all they'll have to submit in their defence is a screenshot of the Premier League table - case dismissed.

And nobody is in the least surprised. I still find it incredible that a national team that is "banned" can still field the 3rd largest team

I love the lunatic conspiracy theory defence.

Why would anyone deliberately contaminate a so-so athletes water bottle?

He only got caught because he's thick enough to pose for a photo.

to be honest I'd suspect that most footballers take anti-doping so lightly that they wouldn't even think there was anything wrong with this - or wouldn't care.

Erm, not whilst playing at City - playing at Sevilla whilst on loan from City. I think you'd have a tough one pinning this on City.

Should be banned for wearing a hat indoors - backwards - Currently without a club too so the ban will be utterly pointless

I'm just giving a time line. I'm unsure why you think I am trying to "pin it" on City?

I'm pinning it squarely on the obnoxious little shitehawk on the left of the photo.

Whats the difference between "hydration therapy" and an IV for dehydration?

Only, it's really common place for IV's at half time of NFL games, or at least it used to be. I know the NFL probably has bigger problems, but still...

    Haha. No.

Just a fan of people being nice and this little turd falls short of the mark by an amount roughly the same length as two football pitches.

The NFL aren't WADA signatories (WADA being a spin-off from the Olympics). They have their own 'code', so it's probably not banned.

It may also be the volume used. In the article it talks about the limit in comparison to what was used

    Ah, cheers.

It's definitely not banned, usually reported by the commentators during the game that so-and-so has left the field to go and have an IV.

I could never quite understand why a sport that consists of about 10 seconds of action at a time followed by prolonged periods of standing around needs this kind of thing
