haven't had time to read the link but cant see FIFA wanting there to be any drugs busts other than the odd recreational drug use.

It's great all the Russian samples were re-tested but why not GBR, USA and all the other winners. If Russia are cheating then I wonder if anyone else is too. In the interests of fairness surely the other medal winners should be tested too.

Well I guess the authorities were satisfied that the pre games testing carried out in the UK, US and other countries was done to standard but equally realised that none of the Russian pre-games tests had any degree of reliability whatsoever so inevitably had no choice but to retest all the Russians. It's regrettable but logical I'm afraid. What is equally regrettable is that Putin & Co don't seem to give a tommy tit.

Cos the lid was blown on a state-sponsored, state-controlled cross-sport Russian doping programme that went right up to Putin signing orders

If you want to talk 'fairness', suggest starting with the athletes who lost medals, sponsorship, and careers, thanks to this

More lies in the mainstream media

Vitaly Mutko, btw, is the head of the Russian FA and in charge of organising next year's World Cup.

What's happened in the last 83 pages?

I really ought to stop posting on the Brexit thread and join in a far more serious thread again.

There are regularly suspensions in the nfl for breaching the league's stance on using banned substances. From what I have read most cases are recreational drugs, hgh or steroids.
Yet the bans are usually 4 games.

Teams also openly admit blood spinning is used to help players recover from injury.

I adore the nfl but am confused about the punishments for drug offenses in the league....

In the NFL 4 game ban is the standard for a PED infraction. They are not required to divulge the type of PED, so players tend to say it was Adderall (which they claim to take in order to learn the play book quicker).

Garbage policy - garbage excuse. :D

4 game ban is 25% of the regular season for context.

Brian Cushing of the Houston Texans is a repeat offender and got a 10 game ban.

You can criticise the NFL all you like but what other sport has tackled the scourge of players kneeling during a national anthem. #priorities

NFL is a circus, and they are the clowns; and that's not excluding the exceptionally high number of people who don't make it without much else to go to.

Nonetheless, NFL is one of the few sports where there is a tradition to let players speak freely about politics.

There are limits to that, as we've all obviously seen, but the same can't be said in other sports.

It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

It's ok though he did nothing wrong and it was all a bad vitamin supplement. Thought diuretics could be used as masking agents but guess not
  • Just as well I don't have to take that diuretic these days, although I suppose I could apply for a TUE. Once you pass 65years of age the NHS call you in for an annual check-up. Last time we changed some drugs including the Hydro.... thingy. It is a great relief to know that should I train, get a licence and compete my drug testing should be incident free. I feel that I've been walking a tightrope.

It reminds me of once playing hockey in central Cardiff and a couple of beat cops popped in just to have a watch. Soon after we noticed that our left back had disappeared.
