Is everyone happy with the accom - http://www.eaglespenmachno.co.uk/Penmac ... house.html

Worked out as £31 for 2 nights, bang on the door for Penmancho and near enough to Snowdon!

Good for me - go for it.

No worries about the delay, I knew I'd get to you in the end

    Sigh.

Never got round to phoning today as I now can't actually do the 5/6/7th April weekend.

    I'm failing epically at this.

someone on here mentioned that they do it in the evening around june time as it stays light til 10pm and you can set off at about 5pm and get back down by 9pm in time to go to the pub :)

i think the voluntry ban only runs between 9am and 6pm, is that right?

I'm not going, but having stayed at the Eagles recently, I can recommend it... Just remember that there's no food in the village, so either cook for yourselves or have to get in a car and go somewhere else for dinner.

This is why I switched the cc2cc first night to the Vagabond in betws y coed, only 3 miles away but with all the facilities of a small town plus outdoor shops. And the vaga is a cracking place with a top gaffer.

Oh dear, what a farkin numpty you are!!

So, do we stick with the weekend of 5th April and ditch the original (non)organiser or do we go for a different weekend?

If we stick with the weekend of the 5th then I'll take over as chief red-coat organiser type chappie.

My vote would be for Antur Stiniog on the Sunday - having been there once I now can't wait to go again (especially as I can't now blame my wussy slowness on the lack of a proper DH bike).

Another thing - I not sure what other people thought we were doing but I thought we were just meeting up on the Friday evening and then riding on Sat & Sun - or have I got that wrong?

So, not sure why KM needs holidays.

Anyway, let's decide whether to stick with the original dates or go for a different weekend first - votes below:

Proutster = weekend starting Friday 5th April

Is the plan to ride trail centres or actually ride Snowdon? I'm in for the former (work permitting, can't find out till 11th Feb) but not for the latter.

Snowdon. The title gives it away, really.

I'm in and just noticed the Eagles in Penmacho and realised where it is. Its miles out of our way to do Snowdon right old drive to get back to 'berris

can't we just stay in 'berris?

Bens Bunkhouse is available for groups of 6 or less.

Have stayed in llanberis and there was nothing (night time) other than a sports bar / bingo hall. We ended up in the bingo .
My vote would be for betws y coed, great food at the stables and a few pubs. Only 20 mins from both snowdon and stiniog ;)

Betws is a good shout, but penmachno really isn't more than a few minutes away from betws. And it puts you right next to arguably the best way marked xc trail in the country.

Agreed eagles is close, but as a neutral, the Vagabond is arguably the best Hostel I've stayed in for atmosphere, and I've stayed in Hostel worlds number 1,2 and 3 ranked hostels in the world. Plus if you ride Penmachno it's a gentle warm up road ride there which saved you starting with that beehatch climb

Fair enough. I've never stayed in Betws overnight - never thought of it as having any kind of nightlife. This is rural Wales, after all. Apart form the odd illegal rave, there's very little going on once the lights go down!

Don't get me wrong, it's not gatecrasher, just a mad gay Irish bloke running the show who sells beer by the bucket loads

Hmm, I dunno, I don't drink that much these days, so I tend to pass out. Having a gay man ply me with drink all night would never end well

Ahh, I thought we were meeting Friday daytime and then riding. In this case, it's back in my diary, but as a maybe. I need to check I've no freelance stuff that weekend. Certainly want to go on it, need the training, and want to do it :)

Vagabond looks good, assuming there are locks on the dorm doors.... 2 days in the saddle, ass will be numb I suppose anyway.

This route clicky gets a good write up - looks like they made a slight (lucky as they seemed to enjoyed it) mistake and ended up at the Ranger Station and then had to push back up a bit to pick up the main trail back to Llanberis. Looks like the right thing to do!!

They also comment on it being the better route, as there's less walkers to avoid than going down the way you come up.

    What does everybody think?

The trouble with starting off up one path, then coming down another is that you then have an almighty ride to get back to where you left the car. Unless you can organise some kind of car split thing.
