Crudcatcher Ride - Snowdon!!

you may question the angle of the SPD, but it is specifically designed for downhill fastness. You'll see0

-
Stick me down as a maybe, if your going up and down llanberis path - rangers/telegraph down was poo0
-
I thought the rangers path looked pretty good!!0
-
After a quick research I'll still be a maybe but pretty unlikely, as suspected its the last weekend of the Easter holidays and add I'm not off in the summer holidays I'm most likely to be on holiday which is a bummer as they keep falling on my holidays0
-
Right I'm in as far as I can avoid a family holiday and daughters birthday
Defo ride Snowdon and how about that new center just down the road - Antur Stiniog?I'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

Only been up and down Snowdon once on a bike (but a few times on foot) and we went up 'beris, down rangers / telegraph.
To very briefly sum it up (from memory of course);
Llanberis path = rocky goodness all the way up (so same on the way down)
Rangers, started off OK, down to where you would carry on for beris or split for rangers. Then turned into a fairly flatish, then short scree type surface for a short while. Then a few nice switchbacks, but only a few. Quite a short bouldery section (100 yds or so). Then turned into a flat path with metal water bars to hop over. Walk up over to telegraph, which is just a slabbed path with stone water bars to hop over. I'd say 20% techy stuff 80% flat path.
@ Richie, damn fine idea that!0 -

Might be worth booking a lodge or something, if breakfast is thrown in as well, then awesome!
What am I your biatch?... hmmm
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

The Northern Monkey wrote:I was thinking about a hostel/bunkhouse, there are loads in the penmancho area with a lot of room... if we booked early we would probably be able to book the whole place at a good price.
Either that or camping!
eg: http://www.jessejamesbunkhouse.co.uk/ac ... house.html
No, you can't stay over, you bloody freaks.
Rather than Penmachno, I was thinking, there's a hostel type thing in Capel Curig (less than 10 minutes from top of Snowdon pass, about 15-20 from the start of the Llanberis path), but I have no idea what it's called. If I pass it this weekend I'll chack it out.
Another option is the hostel at the top of the Llanberis pass.0 -
Oh, incidentally, if anyone wants to take a train over, then Bangor station is probably your best bet.
Anyone going to Snowden, is going to be very very lost, since that's in Utah, or Canada.0 -
Please could people update the going/maybe list so I can get an idea of numbers? I've lost track!
When its up to date I'll fire off a few emails, if anyone finds any more lodges/bunkhouses let me know!

Oh, er... I hate to break bad news, but...
Snowdon isn't there any more. It's really odd. I went for a long walk earlier, and it was still there, definitely. Now though, I can't see it at all.0 -

Are we still on for this?
It's in my diary, so it's got to be happening!
Might be some good training for you nutters planning to do Gazlar's CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC2CCCCCCCCCCCCCCC thingy?
Come on NM, I know that you said you're carp at organising things but here's your chance to shine!!
It would also be a good reason to get that funny chap with no tail back onto his MTB0 -

Mmmm, I could be tempted by this. But I don't do camping (bunkhouses are ok)
I've ridden up Llanberis / down Rangers before but quite fancied riding down Llanberis.....
Oh, and I didn't realise this was from October so probably isn't happening now anywayLife is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!
