    It's a wrong'un.

I fire bullets made of uranium. Potent.
Can't really see the relevance of "how many times a week as you get older" though :?

You get the snip to have sex, if your having less or none there's little to no point. That's the relevance.

If you are having none it makes sense, yeah. I see your point.
But like I say I like the liberating aspect of the snip.

You 'come over' as very selfish towards your relationship.

What the f*ck! Not wanting to lose my swimmers, not wanting to get the snip, ever, is me being selfish?

There is graveyard and in that graveyard is a tombstone and on that tombstone is written:

"Here lies the males of the human species and all things masculine. R.I.P"

    It's a dark time.

I do get the whole, have her anywhere, anyway, anytime without a worry. This, for me, is offset with the every diminishing sex drive. In truth at 20 - 25 a girlfriend on the pill is the greatest thing on Earth. At 30, parenthood or not, I'm like meh... put a condom on just to mix it up a little.

For the guy. The downsides of the pill for the woman have already been pointed out.

I find your lack of understanding of the way a woman's sex drive works over time quite funny. You think Mrs DDD will want to sit around watching telly while you're 40 and be happy that you're only interested in her once a month.....

I do understand DDD's point - as I said before, I'd never ask someone to have a vasectomy.

If I were married with children, and something happened to me, I'd want my partner to be happy with someone else. I woudn't want to deprive that new person of children if that's what they wanted. But it has to be something that is agreed by both parties, and not because the bloke is scared of losing his virility or whatever.

Absolutely, medicine has come on a lot recently. You've probably got a good 5 years left in you.

    THIS.
DDD has obviously never been the victim of a cougar.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Good Luck Fossyant - it will make a man of ya.

I tend to agree with DDD on this one, I am 32 yet to have children (but trying to) and would like to probably keep firing live ones as opposed to blanks.

However I can see a time in the future when it would just become the obvious thing to do, but that would have to be something that is a joint decision and carefully thought through (PLEASE TELL ME THEY OFFER COUNSELLING) cos someone cutting up my most precious man bits is not something to take lightly.

But its not for everyone (just like condoms, the pill or abstinence).

I've been done, and it was categorically the best decision I've made. Seven minutes was all it took, and it's freedom for life. I was so happy to get the all-clear that I was a Jaffa, I can't express. I recommend it.

DDD, is this going to be one of those threads where you have to revisit in a year (well, ok, maybe 10) and realise that people who all said "your and the people in it can change" were in fact right?

Oh and it is reverseable for about £2.5k if so inclined - but not on the NHS !

I can understand the 30 year old lads attitudes at the minute, but give it 10-15 years, you've had the kids, in a steady relationship, maybe married a long time, the kids are growing up and you have more time for cycling - having another would mean bike kit expenses go up the swanny in nappies, you'll be knackered (and 10-15 years older) and cycling will go down the pan until this next one grows up a bit ! (And this is just looking at the 'cycling benefits').

It is not for me. It isn't for any of the men in my family.

It isn't for the majority of men in society because as far as I know people who get the snip, while may be on the increase, are still in the minority.

I don't think at 45 - 50+ I'll will be getting enough sex to justify the snip.

If you say so. It's just plumbing - everything else remains intact.

So, if for some reason you try for another and it doesn't happen - down the line some tests reveal that it's your swimmers that aren't up to scratch. Then what? You seem to be defining yourself by your sperm; that doesn't strike you as a bit limiting.

If I lose the ability to have children then so be it. I will be devastated.
