Getting stuck in on LA's donations now. Pat flustered
  • so if armstrong admits his doping past he can keep his TDF titles just like Riis??

    WTF??

I think it's a bit late for that one now....

JB doesn't have much of a chance after this announcement, unless he puts all blame on LA.

Crikey, that was unexpected - gave FP the hardest time of any of the journalists there. Persistent questioning.

Best question yet from BBC - "How can you justify taking money from a rider for anti-doping when that rider you knew had suspicious tests"

Pat wriggled at that one... and ended by saying they did it in the open, contradicting what he said before about 'in the future we'd accept donations in a different, open way' (paraphrasing).

    What a c0ck

  • Fat Pat's called 2 meetings in Dec - one with the race organisers, the other with reps from the teams. I put a lot of money on Vaughters taking Millar with him for that

Its not all black and white I still give the guy some credit.

At the time everyone was at it and he still had to train hard and few would deny he has done more for charity then most.
Compare him with your typical celeb who does little or nothing to help others and when they get caught taking drugs everyone still loves them.

Before you say well it did not improve their performance, really? so no pop/rock was written sung under the influence!

December seems a bit late. Congratulations to the UCI for getting this press announcement together fairly quickly. However, leaving meetings until December when they have known about the USADA investigation for months and there are already sponsors pulling out seems lazy.

and this is it. With that response he's undermined anything else he said that could be construed as constructive.

Don't read anything into that. There are plenty of other years missing too - it isn't a comprehensive history.

    It is black and white

His cancer charity is his defense but turns out to be no defense

McQuaid is in deep with $37,000 missing from LA's donation to the UCI and his family 'benefiting' from his role at the UCI, according to the recent tweets from LinelBjarne

As a huge fan of Iggy/Bowie/Lou Reed I would readily agree that most of their best work was released when they were off their nuts on heroin/cocaine. I would also agree that their drug use hasn't made me think any the worse of them - which perhaps is a little morally suspect of me but there you go.

What gets me about Armstrong though is the fact that he has stood up in front of the world - I'm a cancer survivor. Look what it's possible to do. Not only have I beaten this vile disease but I've won the worlds hardest endurance event not once, but seven times. Believe in miracles blah blah blah.

He has given hope to millions on the basis that he was a clean, heroic figure, raking in millions on the back of this and all the while forcing young cyclists into doping.

As far as I'm aware Bowie never forced Ronson, Gabrels or Alomar to take drugs - no doubt they did it of their own free will!

Haha yeah, I think Rolling Stones need to lose some of their number 1 hits for excessive drug taking.

And the only reason they still support livestrong is for the money. If there is any fraud going on there too then they will pull out.

EDIT: fraud is incorrect term here, probably would have been better to say - negative brand association.
