He wouldn't get away with it, obviously, but I reckon he would have a good chance of getting the results outside the statute of limitations back (which might help with other law suits) and his ban reduced (which he clearly is desperate for)
There was quite a narrow window for him to appeal the decision to CAS and he was too busy talking about kangeroo courts (or whatever the term was that he used). Didn't USADA offer to take the whole thing to CAS straight away?
But I agree with you, if it had gone to CAS he may have kept the tours outside of the statute of limitations, as well as his 3rd place in 2009.
Another question, why hasn't Kloden taken it to CAS? He should have won a tour, but was deprived by the dirty cheat Armstrong.0 -

Not entirely without sense and logic. It's always the foot soldiers who are scapegoated.d.j.

LA - as ever - entirely misses the point. He was never 'just a footsoldier' - he was a fully paid up general. As well as use of the dope, he was done for:
- trafficking
- possession
- administration to others of the dope
- assisting, encouraging, aiding, abetting, covering up and other complicity
- fraud
- attempting to pervert the course of justice
- conspiracy to dope and cover up his own rule violations, and assist others to do so
etc
His charge sheet was considerably longer and more serious than the Garmin 3 etc
Tygart had a huge dartboard with Lance's face as a massive bullesye, and everyone who testified was going to get the sweetest deal going to help him nail him. I think the removal of his name from the Tour wins was the ultimate in pettiness, and I think there's a chance that USADA could have found themselves on tenuous ground re SoL if he had taken them to CAS.
But dont fall for Lance's attempt to spin that he did nothing more than the guys who testified against him.
If he feels he's been made a scapegoat he needs to blow the whistle on Weisal et al0 -
I'm basking in the irony of LA being an early investor in the platform that did much to fan the flames of hate: Lance's net worth expanding with every hate-tweet....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

1 Use and/or attempted use of prohibited substances and/or methods including EPO [erythropoietin], blood transfusions, testosterone, corticosteroids and/or masking agents.
2 Possession of prohibited substances and/or methods including EPO, blood transfusions and related equipment (such as needles, blood bags, storage containers and other transfusion equipment and blood parameters measuring devices), testosterone, corticosteroids and/or masking agents.
3 Trafficking of EPO, testosterone, and/or corticosteroids.
4 Administration and/or attempted administration to others of EPO, testosterone and/or cortisone.
5 Assisting, encouraging, aiding, abetting, covering up and other complicity involving one or more anti-doping rule violations and/or attempted anti-doping rule violations
Come on , it's not that bad
Hey Richmond I love your "administration to others of the dope" That made me laugh, it just sounds funny when you say it out loud. No diss intended, I like your posts.0 -

Sort of literally, materially builds on the idea of there being no such thing as bad publicity.
Cue some arguing that this was his evil plan all along in four, three, two...Correlation is not causation.0 -
Lol! the whole twitter thing makes me laugh.
He should get a huge blow up photo of himself of when he caught Simeoni and post a picture of it on twitter with him lying underneath it on the sofa saying "just chasin' down"0 -
Wait until Lance moves into a secret hide out in a volcano and holds the world to ransom. We should have let him keep his tour wins :0

I wonder whether some riders, perhaps Hamilton and maybe Rasmussen will/have made more money out of their kiss and tells than they did out of riding? I have to admit to being compelled to read these books, Walsh, Hamilton et al and I marvel at their Rumpelstiltskin-like ability to spin all of this Sh!t into gold in terms of book sale revenues.
It might be harder for Lance to do as he has lost so much more in terms of revenue stream. however, if he makes some kind of Lazarus -like return then I wouldn't be suprised.
I might draw the line at reading Hincapie's. The more I think about him the more cynical and calculated I think he has been.0 -

Hincapie:
- sizeable real-estate investment portfolio
- multiple homes inc this small modest pad
http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/geo ... ?service=1
- clothing line
- a hotel
http://www.hoteldomestique.com/
- popularity seemingly-undented amongst US cycling fans
- gran fondo (natch)
- ooh, and a new ride-with-CVV-and-Big George for xxxxxxxxx $$$$$
AND (importantly for him) has managed to stay buddies with his mate Lance
Single plus point - does part-sponsor a development team0 -
Was listening to the coverage of this latest Lance 'news' on Radio 5 earlier whilst having a spin. A few things struck me, mostly also mentioned above ^ by RR
- This is just Lance looking to manipulate and set the agenda again, for his own benefit
- Those (potentially unknown) clean riders or individuals who lost or had their livelihoods damaged will never have a voice
- Surely if he goes fully '100% transparency' then he'd get in trouble legally with all the old sponsors looking to recoup on their investment, which he obtained fraudulently. So he'll never do it.
- I find it annoying when this story gets covered on the radio as the newsreader/journalist, a bit like Oprah, are never fully equipped to ask the penetrating questions to expose Lance as the toxic bully he has shown to be. So Lance gets some wiggle room, and the ordinary listener could be led to believe Lance was just naïve, or part of the culture.0 -

The biggest problem for me with Armstrong, is that no matter what interview he gives, he always has the tone of someone who's been prodded by a big corporate stick to admit his failings (in the hope he can make money again further down the line), but deep down inside he still doesn't feel like he's done anything wrong and virtually apologises through clenched teeth.
I can just picture him offering his sincere apologies, jumping on his mtb and cursing his way around a forest thinking he's hard done by.
I simply don't trust a word he says when offering an apology. In my experience, leopards don't change their spots that quickly, it takes years and the older you are, the longer it takes.0 -

If Sire John Major can run away from the corrupt shower who wrecked a country and pull 6 figures appearing on the after dinner circuit, how much could Lance make?...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

If Armstrong did not dope the so called clean riders would have got beat by all the other riders doping .Ulrich , Basso , Vino . Can you name a clean rider who you think could have won one of LA's tour wins?
Armstrong did not invent doping. The reason he doped was so he could compete with teams/riders already doping. Doping is part of cyclings culture.
Armstrong's sponsors made millions off the back of his tour wins. Don't see Nike,Trek and co giving out refunds to Joe public for Armstrong related products that they made profit from.0 -
I thought Brian Smith's comments were the most telling. Fired for not taking drugs and then effectively gagged for years - a desire to continue to have a job versus endless abuse from internet forum people about not speaking out. I'm sure Brian will agree how hard done by Lance has been because George got lots of money and only a six month ban. The Garmin three should have received longer bans, but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with Lance's ban.0

It amazes me the number of people who just can't let the LA thing go and see him as the 'the' mastermind of all the evils in pro cycling ...
In the past few weeks we've been given a lot more to play with than just LA ...
Rasmussen has blown the lid on 2 teams and if as many riders/witnesses were brought in to build a case against those involved as there were in LA's case then we'd have just as much compelling evidence and anecdotes as the USADA reasoned decision gave us ...
Vaughters has also been shown not to be adverse to keeping the omerta if it's for the good of his team ... and has found his way into a position of influence (MPCC) that just so happens to have rulings that allow those sanctioned on his team to continue riding, while others have to abide by the rules or face possible exclusion from the big race(s) ...
For example, Garmin raced to stop Hincapie getting yellow ... How many of those riders should have been racing if Vaughters knew they had all doped previously and would/should have been serving 2 year bans? Sounds like a bunch of Lance's chasing down someone they didn't want to win to me?0 -
It bugs me that even this morning, despite saying he'll tell all and take the punishment on the chin, he insists on saying it was 15 years ago. He tries to devalue his misdemeanors by stating they were ages ago but by his own admissions it was 8 years, at best.0

I'm stuck between not giving two hoots what happens to LA and the whole drug fuelled dopers, teams, sponsors and financiers and hoping his value will rise again. That is for the purely selfish reason that I am the current not so proud owner of one of LA's signed yellow jersey's from his now discredited 7th tour win..... :oops:0

I remember Hincapie in tears or near tears after that stage . There was obviously a lot more going on. I doubt he would have been so upset otherwise.0
