I wouldn't knock it because you don't understand it and they don't carry passengers at any level with a lot of technique by coaching staff before every move.
I've never been to a premier sh1t game and just pop along to Football League games these days to see real soccer being played.
Premier from what I've seen is tippy tappy triangular passing that has produced a record breaker like Mrs Beckham who would never have lasted against Don Revie's Leeds United.

How old are you? Not disparaging you, I just wonder after seeing this "this players wouldn't have lasted a minute back in my day when we walked to school barefoot, in the snow, 10 miles, uphill, both ways" rant.0 -

To be honest I've never been all that interested in much of any kind or brand of "football". Although some years back my wife and I did follow Aussie Rules Football quite religiously. Great game to watch, even though I'm not sure I ever fully understood it. Seems to have vanished from ESPN 3 or 4 years ago. Either that or I don't get the channel it's on.0 -

I thought you sounded like you were a bit p*ssed off because all you found was a small blurb instead of pages of details. :oops:0 -

BTW I do understand grid-iron. I could argue the game requires very little thought to play other than the ability of players to be fit enough to fulfill their given specific task and ability to remember pre-planned moves. As you say technique and coaching before EVERY MOVE. The players don't have to think spontainiously for themselves just to behave like none thinking automotons.Tail end Charlie

In my defense you have to remember that I'm "over here" and you're "over there".
Gaelic football? Not a clue. In any case I'm not even sure I understood Aussie Rules football in the few years that I followed it. Hell, the guys with the flags had me confused for a little while.0 -

With that experience I have learned the US is a very, very inward looking country and only the internet and maybe (God forgive) the BBC can educate them if only they care to look. That you proclaim the NFL Superbowl Champions to be World Champions. When in fact they are only champions of 32 teams in the United States and not in a world wide competition.
The only worldwide issues to be found in the media, are US military ones and as you say that News and Sports news are confined to US matters.
Hence this thread keeps moving because there are so many inside the Fortress that cannot admit their "Winner" is a Lying Fraud & Scumbag.
I too now use the internet for world wide News and other sports (Including Cycling) (sorry Bicycle Races) while visiting Uncle Sam.Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -

Have to disagree that "....this thread keeps..... cannot admit.......". In case you hadn't noticed there is basically zero support for LA on this forum / thread. Also, most of the posters are from "over there". Can't recall very many posts from
inside the "fortress"(over here). You don't give yourself enough credit. To me it appears that hate, jealously, rage, etc. from your side of the pond is what's pushed this thread to almost 300 pages. A few other Americans and myself chip in where we can but don't do much in the way of defending him.
I would also question your idea that Americans can't admit that he's a "lying.......". Everyone over here knows the story and while a few may choose to support him I can't seem to find anyone who's in denial about it all. I haven't talked to anyone at all who seems to be in a fit of rage about it, like yourself. Give yourself a break and do what to OP said. "All done. Move on folks."0 -

I don't know wheather I admire or pity dennis to be honest, I ve never known anyone keep bashing out the exact same post, in defiance of all logic, reaon and reality for so long. 300 pages and 9 months!! Plus I'd hazard a guess that the post has been on 99% of those 300 pages.

No, it's quite simple really. This is a Lance slamming / bashing thread. All sorts of things are said about him and he's called every name in the book, and then some. Now, when I come on and say that I think these people are childish celeb stalkers who live vicariously through these so called heroes of theirs, well, all of a sudden it's "how dare I say that about them". I think it's only fair.0 -

The team went to Europe with an initial roster of members including Olympic gold medalists Alexi Grewal and Heiden, Olympic bronze medalists Phinney and Kiefel, Bradley, Schuler, Hayman, Stieda, and Chris Carmichael. When the team received an invitation to the 1985 Giro d'Italia, one of the Grand Tours of Europe, a young American cyclist based in Europe named Andy Hampsten was added to the team under a 30-day contract for the race. After both Kiefel and Hampsten stunningly won stages during the Giro, becoming the first American stage winners ever at a Grand Tour, 7-Eleven was invited to the 1986 Tour de France and became one of the major cycling teams for the next decade till 1990 and then Motorola through 1996. Ochowicz disbanded the team after the 1996 season, when Motorola decided to discontinue sponsorship. 7-Eleven was responsible for an overall increase in bike racing interest in the U.S. The team claimed a win in a Grand Tour, when Andy Hampsten won the overall (maglia rosa) as well as the mountains championship at the 1988 Giro d'Italia (Tour of Italy).

If he is worth $125 million then wonder what the sale is about?0 -
It's a lot easier to hide $3 million than it is a house.0

yes, looks like he knows the baliffs could be calling. Guess his bikeshop will
go for sale too. Wonder if he is just putting his
fortune beyond reach of the law or is he in financial
difficulty with the lawsuits. If he has $125 million..I wonder
where it is?0 -

I don't see the sale of anything he owns as a way to "hide" money. Way too simplistic of a view. If you or I owe someone money, for whatever reason, that person is more than likely to get that money whether we sell all our stuff or not. "Hiding" money, after the fact, is not something that usually works. Unless, of course, you decide to "skip" with all of it and live somewhere that local and national laws can't touch you.
Is he in financial difficulty? I couldn't say. He doesn't confide in me. I will bet that every time he sees his bank statements that the majority of outgoing money is to law firms. And that doesn't set well with anyone.
As I recall there is an old Spanish? curse that might apply here. "May your life be filled with lawyers".0 -
Well, his "comeback" was after the credit crunch, if that's evidence of his or his backers' plight at the time. It'll be interesting to see if he actually continues living in the property for a while, perhaps renting it at a token price perhaps?
Being "worth" $125m isn't the same as having that amount in the bank or wherever.0 -

UCI concluded tests showed no systematic doping use
Lance Armstrong tested postiive for corticosteroids four times during the 1999 Tour de France, not just once as previously reported. An internal UCI memo shows the four positive as occurring on July 4, 14, 15 and 21, according to Het Nieuwsblad.
All of the doping controls are said to have shown "traces" of triamcinolone acetonide.
At the time, Armstrong produced a supposedly back-dated TUE which allowed him to use the corticosteroid for a saddle sore. In his doping confession earlier this year he admitted to having illegally used the product. The TUE had been prepared by team doctor Luis Garcia Del Moral, who has also been named in the Armstrong doping case.Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720
