The same on the Blenheim sportive, 1600 riders in the full range of kit as above. Who gave a toss? I'll tell you who gave a toss. No one, not a soul, that's who gave a toss.
How do you know? Did you survey them all?0 -

I was thinking the same!
Instead I'm going to go out tomorrow on my full sus Mountain Bike wearing my full Team SKY kit..... just because I can
Even better, get a Yello/Green/polka dot jersey and ride it through some nice puddles - The roadies will have a heart attack at you getting the sacred Jerseys (peace be upon them) dirty!!We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Wear whatever you feel good/comfortable in, as others have said though there will be some that will take umbridge,to me, that's their problem not yours.
I nearly always wear black or black/white what I would like to wear is an all pink job same shade as the giro but not a replica giro jersey. Even if I could find such a kit, what puts me off the idea is to "carry off" that look I would have to be built like and perform like a pro cyclist and be able to respond to the ribbings by just totally destroying everyone on the ride.Tail end Charlie

Pink cycling Jerseys that I can think are the Lampre Team Jersey or the ONCE cycling team, also known as Liberty Seguros.
I know it aint cycling but for casual wear the Leeds Rhinos Rugby League away top, with its pink white and grey hoops, looks real nice.

As my Team Sky jersey is the old one with the thin blue stripe on the back is it now "retro cool"?Tri Coaching

Honestly - do you really think that that thing looks nice? It's a disaster area!
With just the stripes it would achieve a certain cool naffness in a 1980s way but the clashing Rhinos and Leeds badging just makes it into a t shirt of despair!Faster than a tent.......0 -

You may well think that but thats your opinion!0 -
Christ! I've always thought team jerseys were a bit naff, just like I think people wearing soccer jerseys are a bit naff but upon reading this thread I feel like buying a full Team Sky kit, yellow helmet and Oakleys just to annoy the sort of idiot who would get annoyed by this!0

More the case of no one indicated that they gave a toss, I suspec that there were one or two who were seething inside

For all this not once have I ever had another cyclist comment to me about wearing team kit to my face nor have I a serious comment to another rider.
Yes of course some leg pulling goes on but it has been very light hearted banter at most.
This thread is defo all about keyboard warriors.0 -
Christ FFS 9 feckin pages of tripe.
Wear what you want when you want it, I personally wouldn't wear a National Champion or World Champ jersey, but that's me, just get out ride your bike prolong your health, enjoy the ride, it's a feckin past time FCS.
I can't believe the mentality of some people, just get out and ride how you want, when you want and wear what you want, END Of!!! :roll:0 -
see the vintage style statements you can make with some of my classic - timeless cycling jerseys.0 -
Really? Pathetic, honestly...
Judging someone by what jersey they choose to wear? or how fast they are going wearing it? i'm new to the sport and to this forum, but jeez, get over yourself... thats borderline bullying and playground behaviour
thank god that opinion seems to at least be the minority...0 -
Im a fan of Tony Martin so i wear an OPQS jersey and i love it.What ever the old guard think, team jerseys are going to be a huge part of cycling from now on.0
-
I'm in the mind set of wear what you like, I have a old HTC highroad kit, and a few vintage kits and plain. Wouldn't personally wear a yellow jersey/KOM type.0
-
I kinda understand why some purists would get wound up by someone wearing a Yellow/Green/Polka/rainbow jersey or any award jersey as they're items awarded for achievements. But personally I honestly couldn't care any less what another cyclist is wearing.
If they support the team or like the colour or just want to feel like they're KoM and wear the jersey then so be it, how you feel in your own clothes and on your own bike shouldn't be bothering anyone else (assuming its not some offensive slur)
I honestly can't see why anyone would get wound up over this. It says way more about the person kicking a stink up than the guy who's wearing a TDF yellow around the roads enjoying themselves.0 -
Due to being new to the sport, I'm a bit shocked to hear how silly some people are regarding jerseys. So just because of that attitude, I am going to buy a Tour De France yellow and world champion jersey and wear it at every opportunity possible around other cyclists just to piss them off. That'll teach them0

I just want to buy a melon :arrow:One plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling0

I can kinda understand the title jerseys - yellow, green, polka-dot, etc. It's a bit like wearing a medal. It wouldn't bother me personally, but I can get why people read into it that way. These are jerseys designed to mark people out who are at the best of their craft. Numero one. Whether you're numero 2 or numero 237,408 people are going to pick up on the fact that you're not what is stated on the tin, and that's easy to make fun of...
Team jerseys, meh. Don't get the disdain for these. No different to football tops. And I see a good few quick riders wearing them. Wouldn't wear them myself, but that's because they're hideous (in fact the Sky kits are probably among the most tasteful out there, if I were to pick any). Roadie kit isn't half as bad as some of the stuff I see on the cover of MBUK each month though. That's enough to make your eyes bleed.0 -
This thread, coming from a running background, has made me die a little inside.
Like a poster above, I am going to buy a TdF yellow jersey AND jump red lights, wearing headphones and having a helmet on back-to-front.
With the seat way too low.
Take that, elitist scum!0 -
If they do not want peeps wearing them they should not make them..................wear what you like, if it makes YOU feel and perform better its done the job.0

I think we should continue to promote wearing UCI rainbows as a casual rider.
It provides much entertainment when I get commuter raced by some fat guy in a UCI jersey...just blowing past me in zone 5 while I cruise to work in zone 1. Brightens up the commute.0 -
 I'm completely staggered by this thread!! Pages and pages of people saying how they are horrified, offended, nauseated etc by "elitist scum" (quote), and yet hardly anyone (with a very few one-liner exceptions) has actually said anything elitist! (admittedly I haven't read all nine pages). Where is this mysterious all-pervading elitist attitude that is getting so many people so worked up? So, a few people might think that major tour, world jerseys etc are best left to the winners of these competitions, so what? Are they trying to violently impose their views on everyone else? No, on the whole they are just saying, "hmm, not sure, but I think maybe X, depending..." or "it's a laugh seeing a fat bloke in a KOM jersey", and yet some people seem to get so amazingly upset about that.
Basically, very, very few people really care what anyone else wears, even if they might follow their own "jersey etiquette" in deciding what they wear themselves and politely express their opinions about it, and I don't think I have ever seen anyone get really upset about other people wearing team jerseys (as has been pointed out this is exactly the same as football supporters wearing team strips).
I really would be interested to see what a sociologist would make of this thread, there is something really weird and slightly sinister going on.0 -
sociologist here... the process is called 'othering'. we define ourselves by what we are not ...0
