Just wwatched the overhead shot, Vos and Armitstead jump at almost the exact same time and Vos didnt actually pull away, so two very well matched sprinters.
Fantastic finish to a fantastic race. Well done the three medallists.0 -

Not Cooke. She seemed really happy. Still the only gold medalist on the road for GB.It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

He'll know as well as anybody what to expect when Vos is there.0 -
Is there going to be a medal ceremony we can all watch?0

There has to be. The BBC have been desperately hunting for GB's first medal.0

I think she was probably a bit drained after working so hard (especially when the three were 15-20 km out, when it seemed to me she was the main driving force in opening the gap), and also it was clear she wasn't prepared to let either of the other two be in last position.
Glad the Russian got a reward too; she did her bit for the trio, but then was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. She is good at TT, so had she been at the back 800-900 m or so out, she probably would have gone for a surprise long one.
But I don’t think the winner was ever in doubt since the successful break first occurred.0 -
Armistead worked really hard and was deserving of a silver. TBH I don't think there is anything she could have done to beat Vos today. Pooley what a worker! She set that up for both Armistead and Vos today. she deserves a Gold for an "assist"
Hats off to the Rusky as well. she knew she was the weaker rider but did as much as she could to ensure hers and the others medalled.0 -
Wow, you really have to love the way Vos racesContador is the Greatest0

The media coverage of the road cycling is just embarassing. It's spoiling it for me to be honest, having to wade through factual errors and misunderstandings.
That was a great great race though.0 -

that was a great race. Better than the mens. Pooley was outstanding and Lizzie should be really proud. Anyone other than Vos and she would've got the gold but what a performance. She was going nowhere in the sprint and Vos was fantastic all day.0

Very decent race.
Why Lucy Martin was given the ride, not Sharon Laws is beyond me.
GB basically threw away a team slot.
There is an air of inevitability about Vos these days.
She completely owned the Giro Donne, winning at will and gifting a couple of late stages to avoid a near whitewash.
So far ahead of the rest, in terms of strength and all round fitness, it's unreal.
Only the really tough mountains give her trouble.
Great result for Lizzie A. A very strong performance.
Definitely number two in the race, but a sprinter she ain't."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Awesome race, the final sprint was epic, gutted for Lizzie but as has been said before Vos just had enough to keep a wheel length.
Another person here wondering why Laws wasn't selected though.+++++++++++++++++++++

Lucy Martin does seem to have lost the thread a little compared to her promise 1 to 4 years ago, but her record except the last 12 months has probably been at least as good as Laws', while Laws' championships' success this June came after the selection was made, so too late to persuade otherwise.
Either all that, or to give Widnes something/someone else (not just Mel C) to be proud about. If you don't follow Rugby League, you're a bit lost for heroes/heroines in Widnes.0 -

OK.
I bow to your superior knowledge of her background with the British ODP and academy, where she chalked up
most of her palmares.
That would be on the track, btw."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0
