Boonen,Gilbert,Evans,Cancellara not had their noses in the wind yet...there's no way that this break will stay away.

    How to cook a break:

Allow break to get to 5 or 6 minutes.
Dangle for 8 laps of Box Hill.
    Steam for 50km.

How far into the race are we? And roughly how long is each circuit taking

Basically have i got time to go out on the bike for an hour or so and then be back in time to see the last couple of circuits of box hill then the run in to the finish. :D

And worth remembering this is the Olympics, not a typical road stage where you can try again tomorrow. Silver and bronze medals are worth getting too. Teams will chase.

I think the break will start to fragment in the next couple of ascents. That will be the cue for a few "Now then's" from Hugh and perhaps a "He's starting to buckle..."

The breakaway group is gradually pulling out a little more time, and Roger's bridging move has pretty much kept him the same distance behind them as the chasing peloton were at the start of the loops – just over 5 minutes – so that suggests GB are holding back to protect Cav.

Peloton now 6 minutes down on breakaway...

The Rogers move seemed a bit strange/suicidal? did he go to try and help O'Grady?

6 minutes with 50km to go after the circuits would be too much to pull back no? What was the old HTC rule of thumb - 1minute for every 10km to stay away?

I bet Wiggo is glad Martin is helping out, he'd like to see him equally sh@gged for the TT in a few days time.

Rogers move at least it keeps TeamGB distracted. He may bridge across but it would take ages.

It was a P&P rule of thumb and depends heavily on the peleton wanting to pull them back. Lots of influential nations in that break which is a problem.

No panic yet, but relying on Plan D (for Deutschland) in the closing 50km seems increasingly likely. If the breakaway leaves the loops with a 7 or 8 minute gap it will be an interesting chase home.

Too many teams who don't want Team Sky - sorry GB - to win. I suspect will pay the price for protecting Cav - going "slow" to get him to the last 1 km with a chance a risky business.

Porter's spotting skills are a bit poor — "is that a breakaway, oh no it's O'Grady..."

not really protecting cav just riding tempo, they can go much faster than this and chip away in next few laps, the fron group will fracture, then one or two of them will try. Rodgers move is a bit weird he will take so long to catch the break, think he hoped others would follow, ah rodgers back lol interesting move, stannard to the front please, Porter sounds as if its 1km to go.
