Not surprisingly, Mickaël Bourgain was the first man to abandon the race. The Frenchman was only included in Laurent Jalabert's line-up to allow him take part in the keirin on the track later in the Games.

Cavendish needs to look like he's struggling on the climbs - it will persuade others to get involved.

I think he will be struggling once Gilbert, chavanel etc start putting in a few digs so that they dont tow cavendish to the line...cant see the GB team being able to do all of the chasing and then put short ars* up at the finish.

Can a mod or the OP maybe get rid of the long quote from INNRNG and replace it with a link? Think a blog of that quality deserves the traffic!

    Ok done.

Cheers. I guess I'm a bit of an INRNG fanboy ;-)

Not sure why they are getting worried with the gap. Pretty standard and this race is another 4hrs long. Legs will be smashed. I know they have less members but those out front will be fried.

Not really. I have a great spot after the sharp rIght before the final sprint to the cake stop. Almost knocked LSS off as he was moving up. Loads of room here. Good signal too.

yea but see how strong the break is and how much of an advantage they have. Plus only britain will do the major chasing, maybe germany a bit as well and they only have 4 members who are going to really chase.

Pathetic that there is no time gaps or KM's to go caption.

Cheers. That's probably about perfect. Hard to bridge, small enough to close. :-) Strong break though :-/

They climbed that in approx 5.30. Should see sub 5mins when they arent riding tempo. Compare that to my time of 6.10 going all out : )

Martin's already done a couple of decent pulls on the front. Germany will want a bunch sprint as well; despite Cavendish it's still their best chance of a win.

what is it with these slow motion corner shots on the TV? Have they got the football camera men in?

I wonder what sort of pace Cavendish can get round this circuit? Knowing the brailsford approach they must have trained up to a certain level and know those levels. I reckon this will come back over last three circuits.
